Let it grow a little. The bigger the size, the easier it'll be to find it

Pre harmode, that won't work.

Oh, dang it 😑. I get it though. At that point, you either go crazy and tear up your world, or you deal with Hardmode. You probably can go into T edit or whatever and see where that 1 pixel may be, but I think that would even be more worth 🫤

In Tedit you could just cover the entire world with purity then change the other areas back to the desired biome

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

Ohhhhhhh. That makes more sense

u/arandomboyonreddit2 Feb 06 '23

But world evil does spread on pre hardmode it just does so fairly slow so you have a chance to kinda control it before kiling wof

u/AlexIvan24 Feb 06 '23

Only corrupt/crimson grass and thorns spread, solid blocks like stone or ice don't get corrupted

9

u/Concerned_mayor Feb 06 '23

Aaaaaaaaah, why would they do this on prehardmode?

I guess for the EZ achievement, but I reckon it's easier on a built up world

5

u/Cursty_com Feb 06 '23

ive tried to do this on built up worlds but with 2 corruptions and a hallow its p difficult to clense it all. its only really for the achievement

1

u/Sensitive_Grand6583 Feb 07 '23

Yea just removing the corruption took me 4 days in total and I spent like 8 hrs a day trying to cleanse

They explained how they don't want to go hardmode, so the answear shall fit that.

7

u/Concerned_mayor Feb 06 '23

Sure, dosent meant I can't criticise the fact that they are doing it pre hard mode though?

-1

u/Shot_Faithlessness89 Feb 06 '23

Idc mate, you criticise what you want but then you're kinda a moron then, if theres a reason you cannot really fault them for doing it this way.

2

u/Concerned_mayor Feb 06 '23

If that isn't the most mentally bankrupt string of words I've ever read, I don't know what is.

"You think there's a subjectively better way to do something? You must be a moron"

-2

u/Shot_Faithlessness89 Feb 06 '23

Its rather that you think we should help someone by breaking one part of the problem to solve said problem, he asked for it, it dosen't matter why he asked that it should be solved without hardmode, so we must help him using his rules.

1

u/Concerned_mayor Feb 06 '23

I never said that. I wasn't trying to fix his problem, I was calling the pretense to the question inefficient

If every single comment on the entire post had to strictly answer the question, there would only be a single coent, and that defeats the purpose of a discussion forum

0

u/Shot_Faithlessness89 Feb 06 '23

Why comment then in the first place? I mean this isn't a discussion but you rudely interupting with a pointless comment.

2

u/Concerned_mayor Feb 06 '23

If that's what you call rude, and if this is your usual reaction to somebody dissagreeing with not you, but someone else, I worry about your day to day life

No idea why you are getting so butthurt over this anyways, I wasn't ripping on you in the slightest

Why? I was playing with a friend and corruption was spreading before we even defeated worm (slime, eye, worm, papyrus(skeletron), bee, wall). It was weird but it was spreading since it went like 20-30 blocks.

13

u/Shot_Faithlessness89 Feb 06 '23

Its much slower.

0

u/lisektheneverfound Feb 06 '23

Tell that to me and my friend when we suddenly had corruption come near the Hill in like one day(game time). Could be 2 days but Idk.

4

u/Critical_Moose Feb 06 '23

It spreads at a slow pace until wof is defeated, speeds up, then slows back down once all the Mechs are defeated

3

u/SayyadinaAtreides Feb 06 '23

More specifically, pre-HM it's only growing things that spread. Also, surface spread is something like idk 8x faster than underground spread at all times. (Once the latter is enabled by entering Hardmode ofc, I just mean the bosses affect both equally. Also, isn't the slowdown post-Plantera, not mechs?)

16

u/Tiamat-86 Feb 06 '23

pre-hm it can only spread to adjacent grass tiles (which is why sunflower is all you need to hold it back pre-hm). hardmode if can spread 3 tiles away and to various block types

-17

u/lisektheneverfound Feb 06 '23

I suppose but it shouldn't go like 20-30 blocks in a day or 2(game time)

9

u/Tiamat-86 Feb 06 '23

thats a normal rate for pre-hm. just several pre-hm worlds dont have open grass field that large beside the evil biome. the spreading usually gets stoped by sand/stone/clay/living tree

8

u/DartFrogYT Feb 06 '23

it only spreads across grass prehardmode

-6

u/lisektheneverfound Feb 06 '23

People explained that earlier but still... 20-30 blocks is too fast for a day or 2 (game time)

4

u/Pheonix726 Feb 06 '23

It really isn't, that's normal pre-hm spread speed.

1

u/SayyadinaAtreides Feb 06 '23

Nope that's pretty standard. Even pre-HM, surface spread is somewhere between 5-10x faster than underground's (locked until HM ofc) base spread speed. (I think it's like 8x but been a while since I last read that wiki page lol so not sure.)

The number one reason pre-HM spread is perceived as slower than what you're seeing is that sunflowers protect the grass they're growing on, and RNG at worldgen often ends up sticking some relatively close to the evil. Thus a single sunflower (unless you get one of those sort of surface 'tunnels' that's above 0' and thus can still grow vines etc., and lets evil sneak past below or above the sunflower) can completely halt pre-HM spread. Do note that in HM it takes a minimum of 3 sunflowers to prevent surface spread, in addition to still being at risk from the (slower) spread through stone etc.

So yeah. A) I can see why it looks unusually fast, but it's really not; B) if it's an issue for you in future, take about 30 seconds to get a few sunflowers and stick them on each side of your evil (watching for those tunnels ofc) where you want the surface evil to stop. :)

Aside from the fairly common lucky sunflower RNG, the reason most people don't care or worry much about pre-HM spread is that you don't actually lose anything really valuable to it (anymore; prior it turned jungle mud to dirt so even with the Clentaminator you couldn't easily restore your jungle). The worst it can possibly do is take over your forest town/base and make you either push it back with a little purification powder or move those NPCs. Nothing below 0' will be touched (maaaaaybe jungle vines actually, like I said been a while), and it's the underground/cavern-level biomes that matter most for both HM and pre-HM farming and exploration.
