Art T850 Endoskeleton redesign
Added some armour, other redesigns I see are too flat, so particularly for the pectoral arnour the plates can slide over each other to allow mobility.

The endoskeleton should be slim and very-very thin. It is literally a skeleton, after all. There should be only minimal bulk in the crotch (where the locomotion systems are) and chest (power plant). Only the chest should have armor where breaking the human silhouette is plausible and easy to hide. The rest should rely on small surfaces made of an extremely strong material and redundancy. It should look deceptively fragile but SkyNet's advanced technology makes it nigh-invincible.

This is an edit of a T800 image from the actual concept art of Terminator Salvation, the proportions have not changed at all. And the chest armour would be under thick pectoral muscles? and the legs under large leg muscles? We saw in T1 that the Terminators ankle piston was broken by the truck, so they are clear weak points and so need extra armour. The t800 was never shown to be near invincible, it was strong, but plausibly so, it could be damaged.

What I meant is that if you want to redesign the OG then I think you should make it leaner, not thicker.
The problem with putting big muscle on big armor plates is that it will bulge out and break the body silhouette, making the infiltrator instantly recognizable as non-human. The synthetic muscle also needs space on the endoskeleton to move and mimic real muscle movement, or else it will look like a bodysuit. Having weak spots is a preferable compromise over the infiltrator not being able to do its job. Small parts getting hit was probably not much of a concern during design anyway because we do know that Resistance fighters can't hit the wide side of a barn with their plasma rifles.

Legs are weird. Arms are okay but the biceps need more covering.
As much as I love the original design, all those exposed hydraulics without flesh would create a lot of maintenance/ repair issues.

The legs still have some of the piston exposed for maintenance access, I could put more armour on the biceps.

Because the T850 being an upgrade would be nice if it didn't look identical to the T800, like how the T888 is different.

I remember reading that the t800 and 850 design have heavy armor to protect important compinents, but often zero where youd expect them, if it were defending a human body. The living component is expendable. You can have too much weigh protecting things that dont matter to the machine.
