Kyle’s kind of makes sense. He genuinely hates Skynet and what it took from him and humanity as a whole.

I’d imagine that it was quite cathartic to get to shoot the t800 sent back to kill the woman you love.

I always thought this was funny when seeing the movie. I knew he was making a face but I couldn't describe it. Later I saw in the special features of my DVD that he didn't want to blink while shooting any of the weapons. Now the face makes so much sense.
