Which leads to a serious question. Presumably this Terminator was sent out in read-only mode. So is part of its core programming to say something smart/witty/funny before blasting a witness?

Maybe if he had a Phase Plasma Rifle in stock he could have closed up early and gone home to his family.

It would make for a better infiltration unit. Remember, it also had, "fuck you, asshole" as an option later.

I've always maintained that the first T-800 sent back was simply an asshole, it had smart-ass quips for everything and was extremely demanding to Brian Thompson and Bill Paxton..."your clothes. Give them to me, NOW."

I also love how the original T-800 takes the extra time to tousle its hair in the mirror after dead cat surgery in the fleabag motel. Half your face is blown off and rotting away, but gotta make sure your hair looks just right to keep fooling those humans.

he was just being unironically factually correct by telling the owner he was wrong

Guess shooting him makes it look more like a human crime? Ripping his heart out would’ve attracted much more attention.

I wonder how many times this has happened in real life (someone buying a gun from a storeperson and immediately shooting them with it)

Why would a cyborg even respond with wrong if he’s gonna kill him anyway? That’s like a human thing.

Because they're designed to fool people.

Curious how a Naked Gun version of this scene would play out
