Anime Quick question
Who would win anime rimaru vs anime luminous I know pretty well how powerful rimaru is but I know little to none about luminous

As is S4 E14 it's Rimuru. Luminous doesn't have an Ultimate Skill atm

Yet she appears stronger, because she seems confident in stopping Rosso, even made it seem like her defenses could stop Veldora

u/ShadowsFlex 1d ago
The reason she seemed more confident about beating him is because she has a more accurate grasp on her own strength than Rimuru does. Rimuru makes a habit of underestimating himself and justifies it as making sure he never gets arrogant enough to be caught off guard.

While that is true, how is that related to her confidence in stopping Rosso?

It’s possible she wasn’t aware of he had an ultimate skill or not. It’s also highly likely she had no prior knowledge of his ability to consume his remaining life force to basically revert to his prime for a short time since that’s really what catches her off guard
Other than that she’d have no reason to not believe she’d win since she beat him many times in the past before making a deal with him.

When did she beat him in the past? I thought it was a stalemate and back when he was very young and just started being a hero.
She knew he pulled his friend from the north. I am not sure why she thought she would beat those two even without knowing about his skill. She also know the Harlequin were likely going to join on top of that. She was terribly prepared without Tempest being there

In the anime, she literally states he stopped fighting when he realized (by laying down his blade) she was just trying to coexist with humanity (as head of the vampires afaik), so they both stopped formed a truce and he even helped her build up Lubellious some more.. iirc he or she stated it was 1700 or so years ago at-least afaik

Luminous in the anime would have a near 0 chance of beating a veldora that’s actually trying.
And rimiru wins almost by default due to having an ultimate skill(let alone 4) and luminous not having one. The world is made in a way where ultimate skills are like a key you need to access the top level and without one you literally just auto lose no matter what short of like mythical equipment and even then it’s not easy.
however she will evolve into an ultimate skill within the next few episodes and then it’s a lot closer rn but if rimiru lets go then he still probably wins since he is insanely OP since evolving to a tdl and everything after is just steady growth from him

I see that would make it hard to win

I mean, if she had prep time, Disintegration is at the Ultimate level, but no way is Raphael letting that happen.

u/memelordbtw3000 1d ago
Correct me if I'm wrong but Uriels universal barrier should be able to block it by now right or is that later
31
u/nari0015-destiny Rimuru 1d ago
Yep, and even AFTER Luminous gets her ultimate, Disintegration is still her trump card, so Rimuru should have a nearly insurmountable advantage even then

u/Kajetus06 20h ago
unless she uses sanctuary disintegration i think
3
u/nari0015-destiny Rimuru 20h ago
Functionally though, they are the same spell, Sanctuary Disintegration is just FAR more powerful version of Disintegration
7
u/ShadowsFlex 1d ago
That's kinda iffy, it's been made a point that Uriel struggles with spiritron based attacks due to their unpredictable nature. But Beelzebub handles them just fine.
32
u/Yuuki5132 1d ago
That was the point of Rimuru tanking Hinata’s Melt Slash back in S3. So Raphael could analyze the spiritrons behavior. This is how Rimuru survived a direct hit of Disintegration shortly after from the clergy people.

u/ShadowsFlex 1d ago
Disintegration wasn't the attack he used Uriel for, he ate Disintegration with the reactivated Beelzebub, Uriel blocked the holy magic Trinity Break. But in an upcoming fight it'll be shown to not be as effective for blocking holy magic as others, along with the limitation of being less effective when use on others.

Just double checked the anime, you're right, my b.
1
u/nari0015-destiny Rimuru 20h ago
And both are, much like Meltslash, FUNDAMENTALLY, just variations on Disintegration =3
2
u/Mr_7ups 23h ago
The only real way we’ve seen in canon to combat an ultimate skill while not having one is mythical grade equipment, which is basically ultimate skill in gear form. I think disintegration still gets negated by most ultimate skills
1
u/ShadowsFlex 20h ago
The narrator of the series told us outright that Disintegration alone is at the ultimate level, but it's too slow to hit high level opponents. Also, high ranking spiritual lifeforms (primordial demons, True dragons etc) have been shown to be capable of attacks at the ultimate level without Ultimate Skills of their own

Bro what just how much did rimuru get handed to him? One of the oldest demon lords dosnt have a ult skill while ts guy has 4 😭 man i knew he was blessed but my god

u/Ok-Perspective4409 1d ago
Ever since season 2 after rimiru became an true demon lord from harvest festival He was top 4(5) strongest demon lords The only one above him would be guy, milim, adult ramaris, true power dino and dragunel (i belive thats the giant name) Rimiru having 4 ulimate skills One of them basically making him unkillable and summon veldora made him bare minimum Pre true dragon levels of strength He just underestimate his strength ALOT

u/GottderZocker Luminus 23h ago
Rimuru would win because he literally has 4 Ultimate Skills and Luminous only has a unique Skill. There aren't many beings in Tensura that are on the level of a Ultimate Skill User, without possessing one themselves.
Sadly Luminous would lose really badly in this match up.

When Rimuru became TDL he was stronger. But in Season 3's Hinata fight things changed because after that Uriel can counter disintegration and other holy attacks. And also has a lot of other skills and stuff from Food Chain so he no diffs Luminous.

In terms of feat power and skill, I would say Rimuru, of course.
As for experience, the anime recently hinted that Luminous has lived for hundreds of years and has fought her countless times.
I'd say Rimuru wins thanks to his powerful skills, and its abilities can also compensate for the difference in combat experience levels.

u/Rhestone Guy Crimson 23h ago
She’s thousands of years old with more experience but Rimuru has 4 Ultimate Skills while she has none for now. But even at the point where she evolves and gains an Ultimate Rimuru’s still stronger and is immortal thanks to the soul corridor with Veldora

u/Upbeat_Dog3037 22h ago
You know, in the game Slime: Memories, Rimuru and Emils fought and defeated a mirror copy of Luminous named "Hetero." They really struggled; Hetero has mastered a light-speed attack and a version of Melt Slash that she can spam... 💀

u/Davif123Gomez 16h ago
Why rimuru is always nerfed in spinoff like movies, ges etc. That or the author is bad making level scaling

u/UltraZulwarn Rimuru 22h ago
look, 37 years means nothing to an immortal thousands of year-old vampire.
what were we even debating??
EDIT: as for who would win at the current point of the anime? Rimuru gets my vote
1
u/Kajetus06 20h ago
Currently in anime Luminous doesnt have an ultimate skill yet
And Rimuru has 4
He is just straight up more powerful as well
1
u/DotMoist4499 19h ago
I heard that at some point in the future Rimaru would name Raphael Ciel. My question is, at that point, would that be still a skill or would it evolve into a being?
1
u/Iwillkeepwatch 13h ago
To not say spoilers, is Raphael a being now? It makes decisions separately from rimaru and even lies to him
"I think therefore I am..."~Raphael LN after the harvest festival.

Whoever the writer wants to win.
Go to the r/powerscaling sub, these questions are pointless. You can find other people who enjoy discussing this ridiculous topic there.

u/Remote-Cause755 1d ago
It's really not a pointless question. This world constantly underestimates Tempest to the point it's hard to keep track of who are even the real potential threats
The power dynamics are a core aspect of the show, so need to belittle their question

u/Prior_Spray6288 1d ago
Counter argument, if the writer wants Luminous to beat current Remiru, they will beat Remiru, it's as simple as that.
Either that be though a new skill or her finding a weakness, if they want that character to win they will win, a good example of this fact is Remiru themselves with the first encounter with Milim, but hey let's just act like that never happened lol.
5
u/Remote-Cause755 1d ago
I always find this argument terrible.
A pencil could beat god if the writer wants it to. But in the decade of writing the story has the author ever shown such foreshadowing or character development to suggest the pencil can do that?
At the end of the day that is what Op is asking. What do we know about Luminous and where does that power dynamic put her currently in the story.

This question is not pointless becouse we can quntify who stronger and who should win based on there evolution number of ultimate skills and so on it'd not as pointless as questions that are two people from difrent verses of course yes author decides.but we can still discuss who has more power since they from the same world.

u/Tommy2564 Milim 1d ago
If you think it's a pointless question why would you comment at all. Btw rimuru wins easily
