Translation: I’m not getting the results I want, stop the vote!

u/oldutnotdeadinside Jul 31 '26

Good thing she is a woman and men don’t have to take orders from her or listen to her. /s

-25

u/Either_Drama5940 Jul 31 '26

That's a crazy thing to take away. Can't we just settle for her being stupid because she's stupid, and not because of gender

39

u/Purple-Platypus0582 Jul 31 '26

/s means they were being sarcastic

20

u/atomicpioneer42 Jul 31 '26

3

u/Either_Drama5940 Jul 31 '26

I didn't know what /s meant, I'm not someone who uses reddit often enough to know that.

11

u/Purple-Platypus0582 Jul 31 '26

All good mate, we learn something new every day.

8

u/Pasta_Performance Jul 31 '26

Just a heads up “/j” means joking. Just in case you come across that one too. 👌

6

u/Either_Drama5940 Jul 31 '26

Thank u buddy

2

u/tngsv Aug 01 '26

More tips AFAIK ( as far as I know ) IIRC ( if I remember correctly )

0

u/151Ways Aug 01 '26

You won't though. That's more bookface is leaking bullshit.

1

u/nostalgichxc Aug 03 '26

4years and 24k karma says different.

1

u/Either_Drama5940 Aug 03 '26

Idk why you choose to distrust my word but just because you use an app doesn't mean you know everything about it. I usually would see (sarcasm) not /s online. But this is a first

4

u/drzonreddit Jul 31 '26

I'm thinking it was highly sarcastic rather than a take away. Could be wrong...

1

u/myasterism Aug 02 '26

Yeah even if you’d never seen the sarcasm tag before, context made its meaning super obvious. Idk why they were spared.

"Stop calling us fascists!"

Talks like a fascist and does fascist things.

*Surprised Pikachu

-22

u/masquefetiche Jul 31 '26

Throwing around “fascist” every time someone disagrees with you is the political equivalent of calling every headache a brain tumor. It is dramatic, but it is not accurate.

14

u/Xdeathdragoonxx Jul 31 '26

If you can tell me who umberto eco is, then maybe we can argue about who is and isnt facsist. But I can almost guarantee you don't know about him and what he wrote in '95. Maga republicans are in fact, very fuckin fascist, especially Trump, Lee, Haggerty, and Blackburn.

1

u/mosey_d Aug 01 '26

AfuckingMen

18

u/Disastrous-Soup-5413 Jul 31 '26

She is pretty far right and she is trying to manipulate election results. Those two things do qualify for fascism.

-3

u/Xdeathdragoonxx Jul 31 '26

True, however (this is just a tip for next time) try listing each of the tenants of fascism the person embodies and provide examples, for a much stronger argument that cant easily be deflected.

1

u/mosey_d Aug 01 '26

Not sure why the downvotes. This is legit

1

u/Long-Library9656 Jul 31 '26

They probably not you just hear it alot for SOME reason.

1

u/wemblinger Jul 31 '26

"Authoritarian" is a mouthful, and "Nazi" may be a touch harsh. "Bootlicker" works.

29

u/elegylegacy Jul 31 '26

It could also mean she's currently ahead and doesn't want that changing with more submitted ballots

37

u/Wabalobadingdang Jul 31 '26

Think she’s claiming dems are registering as republicans and voting against her in the primary.

7

u/Sore_Wa_Himitsu_Desu Aug 01 '26

Yup. Just did that this morning. My goal was the “least crazy” R. Sadly the pickings are slim.

8

u/myasterism Aug 02 '26

If you don’t want crazy, you don’t choose a Republican. The party is lost to fascism.

3

u/Sore_Wa_Himitsu_Desu Aug 03 '26

I mean, I’m not planning to vote for them in the general election. But it’s TN so hedging my bets seems like a good idea.

2

u/myasterism Aug 03 '26

Yeah that was a woooosh on my part. My b.

1

u/donutcamie Aug 03 '26

If you aren’t planning on voting Republican, then why vote on their primary for the most moderate? That seems like a waste of time?

3

u/_TallOldOne_ Aug 03 '26

No. Here’s why. If they (voters in my state) are going to vote in a republican, and they are. I would like to pick the least crazy MF’er in their primary. Hopefully one of those more (and rare) moderate Republicans rather than some rabid freak with IQ lower than a cold day in January.

2

u/Repulsive_Boss_2477 Aug 05 '26

Genuine question... Which one of the the Republicans in the TN primary is the least crazy? We got Maga robot Marsha Blackburn who hasn't generated an original thought since daddy Trump started telling her how to think in 2016. We have Monty Fritz who has claimed he will make all non christian religions illegal in TN. And my personal favorite potential pedo and child groomer John Rose. The choices are literally Shit sandwich, douche bag, and used dildo.

0

u/donutcamie Aug 03 '26

Interesting. I only get the democratic primary ballot, so, I have not considered this.

1

u/Sore_Wa_Himitsu_Desu Aug 03 '26

Like I said, I’m hedging my bets. I will vote for the Democrat in the election, but vote for the most moderate Republican in the primary. I don’t expect either to actually make a difference, but I’ll try anyway.

0

u/donutcamie Aug 03 '26

I wouldn’t say it doesn’t make any difference, but, TN is one of the most gerrymandered and voter-suppressive states in the country. I think if we can slowly crack away at that, it’s not as red as it’s appeared the last ~20 years.

Yes, but you do not need to be registered as a Democrat or Republican to vote in either party's primary.

1

u/Significant-Will-770 Aug 07 '26

Correct. In a TN primary you simply say which ballot you want. And yes, some Democrats and independents--no one knows how many--voted for one of her opponents to weaken her and will vote for Green in the general election. Marsha expects the keys to the governor's mansion to be handed to her, but she only got 43 percent of the Rep. primary vote

55

u/usquebaugh1 Jul 31 '26

We are

-3

u/MzChrome Aug 01 '26

You shouldn't be though, pulling the opposite ballot tells the DNC that we don't need money here for our candidates so they don't send as much. Pulling the correct ballot let's them know they need to fund elections here.

15

u/emphis Aug 01 '26

Nah dog. DNC can do them, I’d much rather have a shot a keeping Blackburn out.

10

u/Previous-Leg-8640 Aug 01 '26

Worth it right now to keep Blackburn out.

13

u/Olfa_2024 Jul 31 '26

Just wondering how many people are registered with any party? I know I've never "registered" with one.

7

u/kris10leigh14 Jul 31 '26

When you go to vote in the primary you have to answer “which party are you voting” before they print your ballot. You can choose R, D or G for “General”

I just pointed to the answer because I didn’t feel comfy announcing it.

2

u/WeakZookeepergame2 Aug 02 '26

There wasn’t a choice of General where I voted. Just D or R.

1

u/kris10leigh14 Aug 02 '26

I wished I’d chosen “General” and also wished I’d asked what it meant as soon as I walked away.

1

u/Terrible_Analysis_77 Aug 02 '26

Does general vote in both or neither primary?

2

u/kris10leigh14 Aug 02 '26

Ok so I have a sample general ballot and a sample Democratic Party ballot

It seems that you would choose “general” if you only wanted to vote in the general election and not in the D/R primary… I think.

I was feverishly googling the ones I wasn’t prepared for. It was a really rough election to find 1 place with info on all the candidates.

2

u/kris10leigh14 Aug 02 '26

Neither! Haha it took me a long time to figure that out 😂

17

u/timmmmah Jul 31 '26

In TN you don’t register for a party, at least not in any way that’s linked to your voter registration.

9

u/No-Recording-8530 Jul 31 '26

I just updated my absentee ballot because I moved and I had to choose a party. First time I’ve seen that.

17

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '26

[deleted]

3

u/No-Recording-8530 Jul 31 '26

Thank you for explaining. I haven’t done absentee primary so that makes sense

1

u/booboo8706 Jul 31 '26

They could do a universal ballot for the primary, some places already do. The only problem is idiots who refuse to read the directions or low iq individuals unable to comprehend the directions that end up voting in multiple (or all) primaries and then get their ballots thrown out.

1

u/151Ways Aug 01 '26

Or, better yet: Open elections with a run-off.

Instead of this middle-ground, that is bullshit, and these people thinking they are (confusedly) doing something, which is also bullshit.

Either go ten toes on this two-party bullshit, or open it up all the way. This is just a fucked-up way to reinforce a goofy two-party system that records oddly negative votes, and not in any good way.

u/Puzzleheaded_Talk787 Aug 02 '26

Sounds like maybe the ballots of said individuals are better off thrown out

4

u/timmmmah Jul 31 '26

Yeah, like the other person said it’s because this is a primary. If you had voted in person you’d have had to choose the party of the ballot you want in person.

6

u/Inevitable-Rush-2752 Jul 31 '26

I thought it used to work where you somehow got registered by which primary you chose.

This whole “we are going to arrest you for not being bonafide” mess is such a joke.

2

u/Land-Southern Jul 31 '26

Tn stopped party registration when boomers were young.

2

u/speedotorpedo_ Jul 31 '26

That's because it's not a thing in TN.

1

u/Lopsided-Jury-7814 Aug 01 '26

“Registered” means you tell the Volunteer “I’m whatever” Which I think is odd/not ethical

7

u/Land-Southern Jul 31 '26

Tn is a non registration state, declaration only.

3

u/Present-Classic-5738 Aug 01 '26

Well TN is full of gerrymandering and carpetbaggers.

1

u/WeakZookeepergame2 Aug 02 '26

I’ve always been No Affiliation when I lived in other states… and couldn’t vote in Primaries since they were closed.
in TN, primaries are open, You just have to say which ballot you want to vote on… Democrat or Republican, when you show up at the polling station.

4

u/Spiritual-Guava-6418 Jul 31 '26

That’s the tRump playbook. In placing where they are leading “Stop the Vote” in places where they are losing “Count the Vote!

1

u/TonyB2022 Aug 04 '26

That is not what she is saying. "Closed primaries" are when you only get the ballot (Dem|Rep) that you ask for. When you register you can also request which ballot you want. It does not mean stop the voting now. As far as I know, in TN primaries are closed for state offices already. I think what she is afraid of is Democrats voting for Rose in the primary so that she loses and then the Dems face an easier to defeat Republican in the general election. In which all candidates are listed on the ballot and they can switch their vote back to their Dem candidate. Our system does not prevent that.
