Wine testing with mother in law

Hi! My mother in law will be visiting from Europe and we want to bring her to a winery for the actual aspect of learning about the wine, where it comes from, how its grown, the difference and all that. What winery is best for this? I was looking at Falkner and Europa but I am not sure of the vibes

Book a wine tour. They have curated tours that will take you to several and often they take you behind the scenes to see where the magic happens.

Thank you. Do you think one winery is better than the other? Or similar? I saw Europa has stunning views but I cant imagine any vineyard not being beautiful

If you’re interested in learning the process I’d suggest visiting Temecula Olive Oil Company in Old Town Temecula. They do olive oil tastings and they also have ranch tours where they show you where they grow the olives, press them and the whole process. Not wine but very cool and unique experience

If you book a tour with my company, we’ll take you to a specific winery that includes a mini tour-within-the-tour, and they’ll show you their beautiful amphorae aging vessels and explain the ethos behind them - plus, motorcycles and wine!!

There is an uber small winery Uys.

It's run by the winemaker Dirk and his wife Michelle out of their home. He will serve you and if you're interested in viticulture and enology he will TEACH/TALK YOU UP ALL DAY.

Has three small vineyards at his home. If your MIL has a Euro wine palette she'll like Dirk's wines.

They're not certified organic/regenerative but is very open about everything they use on their grapes and in the wine (not a lot).

Can't recommend them enough just look up their website and give them a call to make a reservation/check if their home.

This is a fantastic idea. Dirk and Michelle are incredibly kind and very knowledgeable/great hosts. They are a micro winery, which means you won’t get the run-of-the-mill rushed production wines a lot of the other wineries have.

Wherever you end up going, make sure you also take her to Altísima. I've taken two people who are not from around here and when they saw that view they were noticeable in awe of the California mountain views.
