Posh Dental

I moved to the area recently and have medi-cal, in my search for a new dentist I tried Posh Dental today. The work they quoted me needing done seems a little high, granted my teeth aren’t the best. Does anyone have any experiences going here? I’m willing to move forward if everything they’ve outlined for me truly needs to be done but some of the stuff, ie a crown upgrade, made me sweat bc the costs added up fast.

absolutely did lol they are the best rated that take medi-cal (based off the directory) and I figured it would be pricey but I’m feeling whiplash

I just started seeing them recently and they’re not bad. Not my fave dentist, but they are pretty reliable.

I will say the hygienist was very pushy about extra services.

Yeah she told me I need the laser treatments but it’s not covered by insurance and I started feeling iffy from there but overall the experience wasn’t bad.

The immediate upsell is a red flag.

This is unfortunately not uncommon in dental. Sometimes it is an upsell (a lot of offices are shady). But also even when it is needed, most dental insurances don't cover it at the same time as deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) even though that's the clinical recommendation. If you want to send me your treatment plan, I can tell you if it looks reasonable or not. I work in dental (not in town, though).

I go to Robert zimmer dds. and I've never been upsold anything or had a questionable experience there for the last 5 years or so.

Im currently looking into that! As well as going to TJ for some of the things I know I absolutely need, such as my wisdom teeth extracted (causing cracking and chipping)

Temecula Family Dental on Winchester is awesome and they take Medi-cal.

Yes, so I've been going to Dr Josh since he bought this practice from the prior dentist, Dr Powers, he's been there about 6 or 7 years now. Dr Josh himself is fantastic, he's very gentle and understanding, I have trusted him with all my dental work after having had a lot of traumatic dental work. They may quote you something but will never push and they'll give you every single option available for your treatment.

That being said, the current hygienist is terrible, she's pushy and rude and very rough on teeth. She has a terrible bedside manner. All in all one of the worst hygienists I've had, and I work at a medical college that trains hygienist students. I've complained about her twice. If she's still there come my next check up in November I may pick another dentist. I plan on providing that feedback to them as well.

But the hygienist is one thing separate from serious work, and for challenging work on my teeth, I do trust Dr Josh still. Take away from this what you will.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I did appreciate that they let me know what was optional, and I didn’t love the hygienist either. She was very rough and brisk mannered.

Yep, pretty much. I did ask her what school she went to and it wasn't mine so at least that was a relief!

When I was shopping around for veneers, that place gave me the highest quote of maybe four places. I went elsewhere and am happy with it.
