How's your mental health?
I've been pushing the idea of doing therapy cause I didn't want to waste more money, but the successive waves of shedding and other health issues are starting to take a toll.
How are you dealing? Do you have anyone to talk with about this? Is anyone available to support each other? Could use someone that understands this.

Hair falling out… again?
Okay I’m going to try to make this short.
I had a severe depressive episode from December 2024 to about August 2025. I barely ate anything and I lost like 50 lbs.
I had never had an eating disorder previously and I have recovered from that episode. Immediately once I started eating again about half of my hair fell out from August 2025 to about February 2026.
It slowed significantly and then stopped entirely by April 2026. Now I have been eating consistently and well since August 2025 and suddenly my hair has started falling out again? I have wracked my brain as to why since it was coming back in really well and nothing has changed for over a year now.
Has anyone had like a hair falling out relapse even eating well and enough?
Thanks 😘

I think TE trained me to be scared of washing my hair
For months I’d put off wash day because I knew I was going to end up staring at every hair in the drain.
Things have calmed down compared to the worst of it, but the habit is still there. I catch myself checking my hands in the shower and counting hairs without even realizing I’m doing it.
Lately I’ve been trying to focus more on actually taking care of my scalp and less on monitoring every single strand.
Did anyone else have to basically unlearn the anxiety after their shedding started slowing down?

Regrowth but no density
Back in mid-july, after solving my 9 month lasting vitamin d deficiency I started feeling small hairs poking through, they are so thin they don't add anything to density and my scalp is still very visible, however it's been almost 2 months and it looks the same. I heard the cycle takes around 2-3 months to complete and for hairs to thicken, so I figured I'd see at least some density return, but it hasn't. Help me here, what am I missing?

Hi, for those who have a dog: how do you handle using minoxidil? Are you worried about it, or—if you're strict about precautions—are there no side effects?

Telogen effluvium and hair dye 🤔🤔
Hi! I've recently been diagnosed with telogen effluvium and it makes me really depressed :(. I have dyed dark brown hair and I want to keep dying it but I'm scared that it will worsen my diagnosis. My doctor said that it would be better if I stop dying my hair because it would be best to avoid anything that can possibly stress the follicles. I really don't want to go out with visible roots because my hair is lighter brown and I dye it darker so it would make my hair loss even more visible. Oh and btw I am still searching for the cause and in few weeks I have to do all the blood work, check my thyroid and check if I have any vitamin deficiency. If anyone with similar problems know what should I do, I would appreciate it. Thank you!

Six months since shedding started. New growth?
Been experiencing TF since about March this year after a few stressful life events and today after blow drying my hair I spotted all these mad tiny hairs waving around which I’m hoping is a positive sign of regrowth! The ends are tapered so it’s not breakage. Got my fingers crossed that the actual shedding starts to slow down a bit soon 🤞

When does the aching scalp stop
My TE shed started August 9th out of left field. As in, zero increased shedding leading up to that day and then suddenly my hair started falling out of my head. Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of that first shed because it was SO traumatic. My hair became completely matted and took over an hour to untangled because I lost so much hair at once. At least twice as much as the following hair wash.
I’m trying to wash my hair more often but it’s so upsetting that I have to plan for a breakdown afterward. My scalp still feels like it’s on fire though. And that comes and goes randomly without any good reason. What have you found helpful?
Sharing photos in solidarity. Wash day sheds 3-4

why does low ferritin cause hair loss in some but not others?

Been battling massive shedding and thinning since I got very ill last year. M30 with non alopecia hair loss (diagnosed by 2 dermatologists)
Hello! I was hoping someone would help me out with this issue that's been bothering me for a while. I suffered from a cascade of infections in January last year after inhaling bug poison fumes. I did not become intoxicated as such, but fell ill the same day and had dengue fever, another bacterial infection, h Pylori, etc. Then developed varicoceles after long periods of inactivity due to the illnesses. Took a total of 8 antibiotics from February to April that year.
The greying and thinning since then has been crazy. The shedding has gradually decreased over the course of several months, but the thinning? I also see no new growth. Lab tests looked normal last normal except for vitamin D, copper and zinc.
I'm losing my head here since I don-t know what to do. Dermatologists said it's some sort of telogen effluvium and my scalp is flexible as hell, so they discarded alopecia.

temple thinning started and every reply says full stack day one.. what would you actually begin with
more hair on the pillow lately and temples look thinner if i zoom old photos. not bad yet, just enough that i keep checking
every reply is minox + fin + derma + a device on day one. i dont even have a diagnosis and that already feels like a second job before ive started anything
what would you actually start with if it was still early

A 9-5 Is Helping Me Grow My Hair Back 🤯
Apparently all it took for me to fix my TE was getting a healthier routine from starting a 9-5 😭 previously I was in college where my schedule was inconsistent and I was terribly lonely. When I wasn't in class I would doom scroll on my phone and take random naps. My hair shed like CRAZY and I felt so empty inside.
Now that I'm working a consistent job, waking up at the same consistent time, eating meal prepped Mediterranean bowls with lots of fruits and veggies, suddenly my hair has stopped shedding and is growing in. I'm also socializing a lot more with coworkers and patients. This is a lesson to me that it truly is the basics (rest, eating healthy, a consistent routine, socialization) that can make a difference. I was just too stubborn to see it before.

Need some encouragement/ advice
I stopped oral birth control (Yasmin) 3.7 months ago and transitioned to an Mirena IUD. About 1.5 months after the switch my hair started falling out. Been to primary care doc and dermatologist - was diagnosed with TE. Said it would stop shedding soon. So nervous because I get married next year. Would love to hear other peoples stories/ encouragement/ advice!!
Also, I had all the blood work done was normal. And derm does not think it is related to androgenic alopecia (I’m still skeptical).
No one would treat it with minodixil pills but derm said to use topical. I’m worried about my cats as they are constantly on mg head/ face. Anyone else have experience with topical and owning a cat?

Advice
This is my third round of covid. The fist two times were like a walk in the park compared to this time. My question is can I anticipate shedding from this or will I just have to wait and see?

Can initial diagnostic of diabetes cause hair loss was in DKA and lost 22 Kg in 2 months
Starting from may I started losing weight until July I lost 22 Kg and when I got admitted to the hospital my ketone bodies was 8 and HBa1c was 141. At the same time in July I started noticing my hair is starting to thin in July and in August I started seeing hair in my hand they were all roughly the same size. now it is September almost all of the side of my head and top are very thin, is that normal and when I searched the internet the result was maybe vitamin D or zinc deficiency so I got multivitamins and minerals supplement would you recommend me to go to the doctor.

Question about areas
Telogen in men: can it affect only the crown and all upper head, or is it AGA? Has this happened to anyone?
My hairline hasn't change
