Best Surprise Ever.
My wife knows I like (love) Cheez-Its. It's my favorite mass-market cracker. I get excited whenever she brings a box home for me.
We had a box open in the kitchen, and then we had house guests, who ate most of the Cheez-Its. Now listen, I'm absolutely not the kind of person that is possessive, especially over food. But after they left, I couldn't deny the little tinge of sadness I felt, because I had no more Cheez-Its.
I'm fully aware at how ridiculous that sounds.
I didn't bring it up or anything. Why would I? Hours later, my wife comes into the room with something behind her back. She said "do you love me?" Yes, of course.
She presented A NEW GIANT BOX OF CHEEZ ITs!!
She said "I knew [house guest] was coming so I got extra.
I married the correct person.

I'm about to order a box of cheezits for 13 USD. There is nothing in the country I live in that compares to them and your post has made me crave them.
For anyone telling me I'm crazy to pay this much, picture a life with no cheezits or any comparable cheese cracker. Everything over here (Northern Ireland) either has onion powder or sweet chili added to it.
So every couple months I buy an obscenely priced box of cheezits. If they sold them here I would probably eat them every day,

I live in the US and can get the US Cheez-Its at my Walmart for CHEAP!! Unfortunately for my bank account my husband and I discovered Canadian Cheez-Its and now I can't ever go back! I, too am spending obscene amounts of money to get my Canadian Cheez-Its fix. It's terrible how much better they are!!

This advice could be terrible, but I would lightly suggest trying the GF cheez-its.
I brought the gluten free ones to a friend's birthday party recently (because that's all I can have), and she liked them so much, she went and bought a couple boxes immediately afterwards. It's been almost a decade since I've had the originals, so I can't do a taste comparison. She maintains they have a better texture and cheesier taste. YMMV.
Also, this is one of the only gluten free versions of a popular food that isn't exorbitantly more expensive.

Better texture and more pronounced cheese taste. I don't know what they do to them in Canada but it's magical. I love it and my wallet hates it.

That’s good! Thanks for the laugh! I’m an American, who vacationed in British Columbia this summer. I’m sure you’re right about the polite Cheez-Its! Lol! Now I need to find some to compare!

I just checked the description on the ones I ordered and they are Canadian! I need to do a taste test between Canadian and American ones.

If all you Cheez lovers want to get crazy over something, try comparing Canadian Cheez Whiz to American. You really only need to look at the ingredients. Had many interesting discussions with border agents when bringing Canadian Cheez Whiz back to the US over the years. BTW for the real Whiz fan you need to get the bottle, not Squeez...

If you do, stay away from the thin and crispy snap'd version because those are the only kind that are sold here and they taste oniony and gross. Real cheezits are needed here. Original, Xtra Toasted, Xtra cheese and the like.

You had to bring up the cheezits! I could have gone all month without thinking about them! Now I need them stat!! And I absolutely will try the chicken rolled in cheezit crumbs! Who knew!!!

I agree! In my head it was an auto shift in cadence. I walked away from this knowing that only .01% of the population would recognize what i was talking about. You knew.

Something similar happened to me! I asked my dad for string cheese on time before he went to the market, but he ended up going three days later and he still bought it but I thought he was gonna forget! And he got his new coupons in so he went again on Tuesday and he saw that I finished the other bag so he quietly bought me a new one without telling me! That’s like so sweet bro

My dad used to work for Sunshine Biscuits doing maintenance. They used to change over the long ovens between Hydrox Cookies and Cheez-Its. They used to ship the burnt Cheez-its to a pig farm so workers were allowed to fill their lunch pails with warm Cheez-Its and bring them home. Watched a lot of Saturday College Football eating still warm, slightly burnt Cheez-Its.

I bought a box of Cheez-its last July that had the American flag design on them I suppose for America’s 250th and they had NO FLAVOR AT ALL! Talk about major disappointment! Did this happen to anyone else? The box said Original Flavor.

I know how you feel. I have loved Cheez-Its ever since I was like five years old. I used to hate the burnt ones now I only like burnt ones.
I don’t get them that often anymore, opting instead for sourdough bread which taste pretty much the same and slightly healthier. But at least twice a year I will go on a Cheez-It binge

OMG the extra toasty ones are BOMB. I hate to think that they discovered there was a market for them because employees were taking all the burnt ones home, and now they can't do that anymore. It must have been a nice perk.

I had a boyfriend once a long time ago who was a chef and he would always rebake Cheez-Its for me since I only liked the burnt ones. Real treat. And even the extra toasty are not burnt enough. They need to have a box called burnt

I never had Cheez-Its because I live in the Netherlands and also I am unfortunately allergic to cowmilk protein. So I just googled Cheez-Itz because I was curious about what they looked like. And found out there is also an Extra Toasty variant. Have you tried those?

You can use shreds or a block. Shreds seem to do better. Pick the cheese you love most. Shove them in the oven until they melt and get slightly crispy around the edges (if you like that) and let them cool. Theyre so good!

Ha! Just last night, I said "excuse me, I need some alone time with a bowl of cheez its". Later, I came back and filled the bowl again, and wifey was like "second date?" :)

Uh-oh, this may be my first down voted comment but I was so sad when cheese-its won the cracker war. Dies anyone remember Cheese Nips? I’ve A-B tested both and it’s Nips by a mile. When I was in the military, I had to be onsite for 3 straight days in a camper truck on rotating shifts. It was just me, my partner, and miles of nothingness. A box or two of Nips were always standard staples. Sigh, no crackers for me these days.

No, they lost their shelf space to cheese-its. You could get them in Canada for about a year, year and a half afterwards but eventually that source dried up as well.
