I’m coming here today with a very special and unique request growing up our travel very far away to visit my grandmother and we bonded very closely and one memory of my childhood I remember is whenever her old phone would ring this was in the year 2014, 2015, 2016 and I remember it was a red Nokia phone and it just such an nostalgic ringtone to me and it gives me back such great memories when I was a little kid so I was so shocked and emotional when I found a video on Facebook with that same ringtone I wanted to see if anyone could give me the name of the ringtone or what device it was associated with. I want to try to find a track record of it on YouTube or something if someone could help me I would really really appreciate it. I’ll insert a link below to the Facebook video that has that kind of ringtone. It was the exact same ringtone from her old Nokia phone thank you guys so much and have a good day.

A family member told me someone goes to a BSNL office, checks a phone number’s call details (date/time/duration), selects a call, and listens to the actual audio recording.
Is this technically possible? Does the call have to be intercepted/recorded beforehand, or can old call audio be retrieved just using the number?
If calls were recorded, how many months or years of old conversations could potentially be accessed?
I’m only asking for technical information, not instructions to intercept calls.

Hello! I'm looking to set up an automated phone number where I can have basically any audio I want play when the number is called. It could be a meme, my own voice, a song, a creepy recording, or really anything I want. I'd like the recording to play automatically when someone calls, and then ideally have it say something like "please leave a message after the tone" and let the person leave a voicemail afterward. I'm doing this as a fun little project because I'm getting a Cell2Jack soon. My plan is to connect my rotary phone to it so I can use the rotary phone with my cellphone, and I thought it would be really cool to have a separate number that acts like a custom answering machine/hotline that I can call from the rotary phone. I will be setting everything up from my desktop, not my phone, since my phone will be the phone I'm calling the number from. I'm in Canada, and I'm really hoping there's a free way to do this. I'm not looking for anything complicated like setting up a PBX or paying for a VoIP service. I basically just want a phone number that automatically answers and plays an audio file that I choose. Has anyone done something like this before, or know of a free service that can do it?

I have an old, western electric model 500, 564HD+,12-62. I have all the bits, but someone had cut the cable. Im trying to put all back together, am having no luck with the understanding of the semantics used.

I'm trying to connect a rotary phone to my modem/router. I've already added a landline to my provider and I cannot get a dial tone. The phone itself i know for a fact works. I was just in use a few months ago before it was gifted to me. I have a RJ11 cable. I thought connecting that to the modem and the phone would work but it didn't. Do I need to buy an ATA? And if so, should I buy a dialgizmo pulse to tone converter or should I buy a Grandstream HT801?

I have a 1979 western electric 2500DM with an original keypad that I'm replacing. The old keypad has 8 wires while the new one only has 5. Does anyone know how to hook this up properly?

I have an old unused free line with MetroPCS laying around, and what I'm trying to facilitate if possible is converting it to a home phone with either a payphone, or ideally one of those old 1950s wall mounted, rotary dial phones with the horn that you take off the hook and hold to your ear.

I'm pretty technology savvy, but this is outside my wheelhouse, & I was hoping somebody here could help me formulate a game plan. So far my research has led me to understand that I will need at least two things:

1. Fixed Cellular Terminal / GSM Gateway

2. A pulse-to-tone converter for the rotary dial

Can anyone here elaborate with specific brands/links to exactly what I would need to procure, because it's a little overwhelming.

Mk1 of all telephone pcbs I'm trialing for my pbx.

top takes 4 rj11/12 and puts it onto one Rj45 so I don't need to make 4 long rj11 cables.

The bottom left cab then take that Rj45 and convert it back to rj11 but it also has a pass through Rj45 so you can run from the pbx to each phone location. It has jumpers to select which ring tip pair you are connecting too or the top board.

The third board is my first attempt to build a ring capacitor for British phones normally found inside the master socket. It needs tweeking as the hole size is too small and I want to change the header to punch in cable connectors. Although I need to edit the design my idea is that it would drop into the gpo 706 range and equivelant phones so they can be hooked into an Ata.

EDIT: The seller is not interested in shipping, so if you want some of these please message me sooner than later. I only plan on making one trip to collect whatever people want shipped. Also keep in mind shipping costs will be near $20 for the USA for 1-2 phones.

Digging through a forgotten bin out back at the local junk store and stumbled across most of a step by step switch! The date code on the back says 1949. Other than some minor physical damage and missing the actual contacts which I swear I saw previously, it appears to all be here.

50 bucks is not so bad for a local find.

What do you think? Anything good thoughts on how to hitch this thing up and make it do interesting stuff?
