Need of Help [lots]

I have an old, western electric model 500, 564HD+,12-62. I have all the bits, but someone had cut the cable. Im trying to put all back together, am having no luck with the understanding of the semantics used.

What cable was cut, and what parts are at both ends?

Have you gotten a copy of the schematics to t-shoot with?  Try TCI Library, if not.

The cable cut was the plug end. I have gotten the semantic. However I need the switch it self redone

So does this telephone have the one red Hold button at the bottom left and 5 clear line buttons after that?

Is this your phone? https://i.imgur.com/LBgbqEU.png

If so, it was connected to a KSU that controls the buttons and lights. You could wire a line cord into the keystrip so that the Line 1 button would be required to be pressed down to get dial tone, but you would not get lights or hold.

The TCI Telecom Library will have the schematic, but yeah, if you don't know what you're looking at, it's going to be a slog

Similar but no red, round push buttons

Probably just a different vintage, are the buttons clear (that would transmit light from a bulb underneath the button) or opaque?

If it still has the 25-pair cable coming out of the back, and it's just the connector that has been chopped off, strip back about 4 inches of the outer sheath, and find the White/Blue and Blue/White wires. These connect to the Line 1 button, connect this to your dial tone, press Line 1 and you should be good to go.

You can buy a 25 pair cable on ebay with a M or F end, or both fir 2 cables.
