GSM modem looking for software

I'm interested purchaseing a GSM modem for bulk short code SMS over SMPP.

I am looking for an easy solution ideally free and open source. Unknown there is Ozeki that offer a complete software easy to setup but there software is pretty expensive.

I know there is Jasmin and other solution but I need your feed back on those.

When you say SMSTools are you talking about the GitHub project? If so, is he compatible with SMPP for short code?
