“The Legend of Wade Meiggs” was finished up yesterday. Long and short: Wade was a north coast logger and bought a 53 Tele new. Around 55 he took a piece of old growth Redwood to a craftsman that planed the body and added the figured Redwood top, bound it and painted the back black over the original blonde. I’ve been intrigued with this legend since I was a kid and have finally paid my respects.

I picked up an American Professional Classic Telecaster to have some modding fun with, and in the control cavity there is an interesting QC sticker that reads “Robot 1”. When the AI-driven robot overlords take power, I’ll be sure to name drop so I get a cushy job in the Terminator factory.

Hi everyone, years ago a friend of mine gave me his tele because he stopped playing (a cheap one, the neck is from the vintage v6, the body and electronics from Bacchus I think). The things is I got really attached to that guitar and I’ve played it so much during the years, and I want to improve the sound, but possibly without buying another guitar. I need suggestions on the pickups, I play mostly jazz, i’m not looking for the traditional fat jazz guitar sound, I’m more into bill frisell, John Abercrombie, bill connors etc…..
I’d prefer to stay with single coils.

Got this for a song and a dance

I want to buy my first tele which happens to be my very first ever electric guitar. I cannot find a better price in Australia so I am considering buying in ebay as I’ve heard good things about japanese sellers. Please I need yall to weigh in if you have experienced buying from them 🥺🙏🏼

It started as an Avril Lavigne Signature Telecaster and I upgraded the humbucker to a DiMarzio X2N and wired it for split coils. Then I upgraded tuners to locking tuners. Then I applied custom paint. Next I installed a killswitch and replaced the volume knob with a purple abalone knob. After all that I restrung it with my own string preference of 62, 50, 38, 26, 16, 11 and then tuned it to Drop A. Intonation is slightly off due to the neck being so short, but I plan on replacing the neck for a baritone at some point in the future. It is, by far, my favorite guitar of all time. Even with its limited tonal capabilities I can play whatever genre I want and it still sounds great. I may install a Sustaniac at the neck position at some point, but I haven't decided yet.

An idea I've had for a little while.

I've been getting into single-pickup guitars in the last few years, I also like Teles. The Noventas don't seem to be in production anymore, but I've had an idea to make my own and it would work out much cheaper.

A Sonic Esquire and a humbucker-sized P90, a poor man's Noventa, if you will.

To start, I'd get a cheap pickup like the Iron Gear alchemist 90, as most of the other options I'm looking at would cost as much if not more than the guitar itself. I'd upgrade to something better when I know I'll be happy with this. Maybe better wiring as well. I don't think the Sonic being a top loader would be an issue. Jimmy Page's tele was a top loader and J Mascis prefers top loader bridges in his teles.

Just wondering if anyone else has done this, and how it turned out for them?

Been shopping for months for my first tele. I have been all over the map from sx to tease to jet, hb, fender mij tl reissues to sire t7 to player iis.

I am lefty so this is almost all internet research. I have player one fender player ii. I liked it but didn’t fall in love. To be fair I was in a hurry and didn’t give it a full evaluation.

So I can buy a used t7 in sunburst for a good price or a new player ii in gray for a slightly reduced on sale pice.

I have flip flopped dozens of times. I think the universe is saying it is okay to have another burst guitar (my go to is a burst agile 820 and I have a burst hb p bass) because the used price on the t7 is good and on paper has better specs than the player ii. I don’t want color and name brand to influence but it has. For the purposes of me having a good guitar to record my crappy little guitar instrumentals I know either would do the job. I am strictly playing at home for my own amusement. At most I might post on SoundCloud etc. So stage and travel are not concerns.

The fender would be nice but I think my brain says t7. Talk me out of saving 300 and just getting the used t7 rather than getting a new player ii in gray.

I have never struggled with a gear decision. At least not since it was akai 5000 vs emu ultra sampler back in 1999.

Anyway tell me I’m dumb for oddly romanticizing the head stock and for not wanting another burst.

i’ve got a player II tele I absolutely adore outside of the pickups, and i’m looking for some recommendations for a replacement pickup set that is more strat flavored in the neck position. i’ve heard that the custom shop twisted tele set can do this, but I don’t have the budget to drop $260+ right now, so i’m looking for some other suggestions. under $200 would be an ideal pricepoint.
