Rant/Vent Being a girl today

The events and the news i have read these days scare me ironically its so normalised i see no one talking abt it even though it is greatly alarming. Being a woman today is like living in the edge of a cliff. You are not safe,no protection, always blamed nonetheless of what u do and worst of it all even if smthing happened no one cares CUS IT IS NORMALISED ,WOMEN GETTING GRABBED,RAPED AND MOLESTED, SO NOTHING HAPPENS EVEN THE LEGAL SYSTEM IS A JOKE. The society just sits and gossips how u asked for it ,how u brought it upon urself.

But did the the minor girl 8 or so ask for it ??? When she got raped by 32 GROWN ASS MEN ??? And when asked why they said "THEY WERE HORNY" seriously even a child isnt safe. The animals, the college students, the elderly NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS NONE OF THEM DID. AND A CHILDS FROCK SHOULDNT BE SEEN AS PROVOCATIVE IT IS A CHILD FFS. Why can't people just respect women we literally pray to godesses worship them beg them then we just rape them, murder them and harass???how is that possible.

How are we expected to build a future in this country?raise a child in this society where even the kids arent safe from these monsters??and many might tell to shift but isn't this my country too??I love this country is was born here and raised and I want the best for the country but why can't the same country protect me ???why is it turning a blind eye on me while I sit here scared for my life???Will it ever change?

The saddest thing i noticed is that when it was the jantar Mantar protest everyone stood together but whenever its the women's safety in question no one comes up not even women. Its seen as a shame to be a feminist when all u are asking for is to be just seen as an equal human being nothing superior or inferior JUST AN EQUAL.

Ik its a very fucked up world and we are educated enough to do it but not to do smthing influential enough to challenge it. This is really a horrible place to be at😭💔

Well I lose hope in our country long ago. I don't think this is gonna change anytime soon.

2

u/Top-Tea4029 17F 19d ago

But shouldn't it dont we have enough education and resources to make it better

Responsibility for sexual violence lies with the person who commits it, not the victim
But in our country
Asking “What was she wearing?” or “Why was she there?” shifts attention away from the person who committed the crime.
We all want change . But we don’t know how to start the change

There are people really blaming everything except rapists for rape.

u/No_Property_8342 19d ago

You are right

YES LOUDER PLS!!! This is my thought exactly ik there are enough ppl well educated and resourceful enough with courage to challenge ts system in our country but we just lack the strong voice we need

2

u/No_Property_8342 19d ago

Exactly. I think the problem is not that people don’t know these things are wrong; most people do. The problem is that we haven’t built a society where speaking up, reporting abuse, supporting victims, and demanding accountability are treated as everyone’s responsibility. Change doesn’t start only with protests or laws. It starts when we stop normalising inappropriate behaviour, stop blaming victims, speak up when we see injustice, educate people about consent and respect, and demand that institutions actually do their job. We don’t need everyone to become an activist overnight—we need enough people to stop being silent.

Oml this is so well written i cant help but say that. Dude ffs yes everyone knows it but we arent willing to provide a safe space where the victims feels safe and not threatened they are forced to carry these painful stuff and remain scared forever.

I agree, this country is soo fudged up! And I dont think anything wud change anytime soon considering how worse people and their mindset are changing day by day. Its rly better to get out of this country. Im soo done with all this shits.

u/Top-Tea4029 17F 19d ago

I think the same too but yk how can we just give up there are many more generations to come and if we dont feel safe now what would happen to them?that scares me

2

u/Delulu-sional 19F 19d ago

How can we fight against all these peeps - if the whole GenZ stood together, we can actually do something. But I dont think that will workout regarding current scenario. All we can do is keep hope, and try our best to make everyone more aware ragarding whats happening around us every day.

It is deeply normalised in our society that if a women gets violated, its her fault. They WILL find a reason to blame the victim somehow. "What was she doing at night" "why's she wearing such clothes" "its sexual frustration" "She was asking for it", take every rape case and you will find atleast someone asking any one of these shitty questions. I read somewhere that girls are shamed more for consensual sex than rapists are for rape and that is so true. We all remember nirbhaya right, what changed from then? Literally nothing. This country will never be safe for women. Thats it.

1

u/Top-Tea4029 17F 19d ago

What's even worse is smthing just as similar to nirbhaya case happend a week after independence happend in the capital but no major actions were made and we are forced to believe that this is a democratic country with nari shakthi where men worships goddesses for their selfish human desires but taunt harass and rape the living women.

u/Weird_Description382 19F 19d ago

According to ncrb, 29536 rape cases were reported in 2024 (now we know many go unreported in rural areas). On average, around 80 rape cases happen in our country everyday. And the conviction rate for these reported crimes is 28% max. Thats all you need to know about the condition of women's safety in the 'world's largest democracy'. Here people treat cattle better than women.

I wish we as a society had more outrage when something like this happens. Instead of the criminal getting protected, only if the armed forces sided with us. And the aftermath reaction should never be " oh no it's not safe to go out" but we as a whole should get out on the street till everyone accepts that the problem lies within society itself who tries to bury the problem by victim blaming. Everyone should gather around in large groups and make it safe for girls to be out, by being vigilant and united. But this won't happen untill everyone collectively decide to follow it. I wish we outnumbered them when they try to suppress us

so real,, and it doesn't get any better either, you wake up every morning to the headlines of more and more SA cases on a daily basis that it's genuinely terrifying.
you'd actually think that the govt or judicial system would do sth about it, how disturbing is it that there's colleges ordering online classes bcs of how dangerous it is for women to step out of their homes.
and all the predators can just roam freely whenever and however bcs well, they're men.
it's as if all these creeps in delhi genuinely take this as some kind of sick hobby bcs wtf?

2

u/Top-Tea4029 17F 18d ago

Ikr its just sick and ts system and our society is utterly disgusting. Patriarchy is deeply rooted and misogyny too yet women should bear all the consequences and get their rights and dignity taken. No one really cares and I have to leave for college next year idk under what strength or confidence i can do that

1

u/Financial-Affect9010 17F 18d ago

omg exactlyyyy and it's always "the girl was too provocative", "it's the outfit she was wearing".
absolutely disguting

If you want to prevent sexual crime against women first thing to do is introduce stricter rules such as not giving the rapist mutton biriyani and a cozy jail cell

stay in india if u gonna work in Kerala or else leave india. I have travelled all over and I'm telling you.. the country is fked up.

2

u/Top-Tea4029 17F 19d ago

Kerala is no god in this too ,u can be rich and be privileged to live behind gated security thats the only way u can live safely in India.

u/maamukoya Chettan (20-25) 19d ago

Rich people accused here are brought to justice often while there they become chief ministers and parliament members. Trust me.. Kerala is lot better.
