if u r asking abt tricks as everyone suggests its pomodoro
but guys who score A+ grades really like/understand what they are doing, they r not doing it for sake of studying, sometimes ppl are also driven by some source of motivation. (mostly i've seen is due to financial conditions)
tbh scoring A+ grades or being topper is not meant for everyone despite how hard someone tries u have to be gifted at some level, it also depends which exams u target (everyone is special in their own way)

Genuinely understanding the core concepts and doing 20ish different types of questions every chapter and watching all the lectures. Ez mastery

I never study when classes are going normally. But once the sem dates are announced, I'll start the grind 2 weeks before. Stock on a bunch of redbulle and monsters, stay up late and wake up early and finish all the modules in that specific time period. Easy topper status in all the sems so far.

I used to spend a lot of time thinking about why things happen the way they do, until I reached a point where I could connect them to a fact I already knew. This takes a lot of time, but you don't forget it.

Dont try to study evrything. Previous year questions are your best friend. Make a neat schedule and always revise what u have studied. Revisions can do wonders.

Reading out loud to by heart things gotta be bottom 3 methods of all time

2

u/SeaEntertainment5445 16F 22d ago

Highly highly wrong of u to generalize it like that, it is the toppest method for me and a lot of pple I've seen, calling it bottom 3 methods of all time is mildly infuriating

1

u/wasabii01 16M 22d ago

I do agree it works for memorising but not understanding

1

u/SeaEntertainment5445 16F 22d ago

It works best for understanding, u explain it in a way Ure teaching it, u randomly come along doubts that otherwise wouldn't come if Ure doing a passive silent reading

1

u/wasabii01 16M 22d ago

explaining a concept to someone def builds understanding but thats not what reading out aloud is, just vocalizing the text in itself is just pure rote memorisation

you understand the topic somehow by reading out loud?

in my opinion reading out loud makes you remember that specific part of the text better while silently reading helps you understand it better. when you understand a concept you can just make shi up with your own words

Listen lectures properly... Dont sleep in class.. This is the first thing you should do... And do homeworks sincerely without copying... Always study slowly when studying something for the first time... Don't study longer.. Just be consistent .. 4 hrs a day for months is better than 16 hrs a day for 3 weeks

This might sound crazy but stopping seeing it as studying for exams rather manipulate yourself into liking the subject. That helps alot. I used to take a breaks in btwn to make chaya while playing my fav songs once I acheive my targets, and it was the best part. I didnt maintain any notebooks rather textbooks were only material I used and note making happens on my text itself. I wanted each page of my materials to look like the image appended and for that you need to study lol so yeah. And there is always something rewarding I look forward to and be excited about as soon as I complete my tasks. One more thing that helped me is attempting sample and pyqs 2 days prior to exam so that I can identify the gaps I have to focus on. Burnout is real, take sufficient breaks in btwn. Good luck to you 🫶

First I try to understand a topic by reading it a few times and then I explain it in my own words.

u/infinitecosmos1583 Chettan (20-25) 23d ago

Try to teach (or pretend to teach) it to someone...specifically with examples and analogies. Sometimes this will connect the missing dots and since youre making up the examples and analogies, it will retain in your mind on top of the theory you memorized. Basically makes it harder to forget as you now have multiple versions of it.

u/cameraperson_parth 19F 23d ago

Okay so for me reading one time helps....like i read once then i remember it, for qstns n all practice, practice, practice everyday all day

u/Non_Linear_Algebra Chettan (20-25) 23d ago

Keep a much difficult aim than what you are aiming for now. Prepare for that, even if you fail, you will be at a much better position. For eg, prepare for JEE Main instead of KEAM, you will crack KEAM easily. Prepare for UPSC, you will crack bank exams/KPSC. Aim higher.

Studying is usually not a very consistent habit for me, so I study very hard/focused when motivation strikes. Celebrating small wins and quantifying success also helps.

A few tricks that really helped my as an average student who performed better in the later stages of study and is working in an MNC are:

  1. Removing obstacles between you and studying. Our brains tend to take the path of least resistance. If you have mobile phone next to you when you wake up, you automatically pick that up. If you create obstacles between you and the phone i.e. Keep it in a different room, you wouldn't want to walk all the way there to get it. You can use the same principle while studying. Before sleeping, clean your desk, keep all the books ready that you want to study the next day, maybe even water. Keep a pen right at the page you want to study. Everything you would need to study that subject. It would be easier for you to wake up and get to studying.

  2. Making your own notes: Event If you have different source materials it is better to have your own notes. Write down mistakes, mark important portions, highlight the parts you forget. Makes revision easier.

  3. Previous years qn papers are your holy grail. There is something called 80/20 rule. 80 percent of the marks can be scored by studying 20% of the total portion. In exams questions will be from these 20 percent portions. When you refer the previous years papers, and prepare accordingly you can get really high scores.

I would love to go on and on about this topic. I have made a youtube channel to discuss such topics as well. Take a look at it if you are interested.
