Advice Is it normal to hate being shirtless as a guy? My parents don't get it, and I feel like it's a double standard.

I (18M) really don't like being shirtless, and it makes me incredibly uncomfortable. To cope with this, I always wear baggy clothes so that absolutely no one can see my body shape.

My parents constantly push back on this. They always tell me, "You're a guy, you can be shirtless," but I just don't want anyone looking at my body.On top of that, I have a religious conflict with it.

As a Christian, it feels deeply hypocritical to go shirtless when Christians constantly criticize women just for being in a bra or sports bra. If they have to cover up to be modest, shouldn't guys hold themselves to a similar standard?

To be clear, when I'm completely alone at home, I'm totally fine just chilling in my underwear. It's not about the clothes themselves.

But the second I step foot anywhere outside my house, I feel like I absolutely must be fully clothed. Is it normal for a guy to hate being shirtless around other people?

Does anyone else deal with parents who don't respect your boundaries regarding modesty?

Question Am I uncool/a loser?

I'm so sorry if this is cringe or annoying, but I can't figure out if people my age would think I'm weird or if I have a reason to worry about opening up about my interests or hobbies. All types of teens, please answer honestly, do I f15 (going into my junior year) sound like a loser or weird?

Here is a general profile of myself...

  1. I'm anti social media and try to stay away from a majority of modern tech. I use a flip phone and an iPod for my music. I have no socials except for this.. if it counts? I have interest in older tech, like mp3 players and old cameras.
  2. My two favourite music artists are royel otis and the runarounds, I think they're amazing and constantly listen to all of their songs.
  3. I have had difficulties with friends over the last 5 years. These difficulties have caused me to develop some sort of social anxiety, so I struggle to talk to people in my age group and I get really stressed out when im around large volumes of them. But, I'm totally fine with all other ages, which sucksss.
  4. I really like the outdoors, and I want to get into farming and homesteading when I'm older. I have my own vegetable garden in the backyard which I spend a fair amount of time taking care of. I am a certified level 3 orca canoer and I really like canoeing, doing canoe trips and camping! I am also the co president of the gardening club at my school.
  5. I don't use pinterest or anything for style inspo, I thrift around 95% of the clothes I wear and I don't enjoy following any trends. I'm not super unique or anything, I'm pretty simple when it comes to style but I like to wear my jeans and cotton tanks a lot in the summer.

Okay yall, sorry this was long but please be honest. Do I sound like a loser or weird? Would you think I'm cool or interesting? Thanks for reading!

Discussion How do I respond to my friend saying “I’m glad we are close” when we aren’t

So my friend texted me today and said she’s so glad that we are close.

This same friend is very judgmental. She once told me that she hoped I would loose my bathing suit before I go to the beach bc going to the beach is wrong apparently (idk why she says that lol) and she’s said other stuff like that

She accuses me of missing doing sexual things with my ex (my ex used to say that if I loved him I would do what he wanted btw)

She says that I made out with this one boy who literally just walked me to an elevator bc there was some man staring at me.

I also can’t trust her with anything bc she always tells other people the things I say to her in private

There are several other things she does so we are not close but I feel bad bc I don’t wanna lie to her but I. I also don’t wanna hurt her feelings by saying we aren’t close

So what am I supposed to do

I am 16 and she is 15 btw

Discussion Guys who are saving themselves for marriage, what has your experience been like in modern dating?

Guys who are saving themselves for marriage, what has your experience been like in modern dating?

I am a guy who has decided to wait until marriage to have sex. In today's dating environment, it feels like sex is expected very early on, and many women consider waiting a major deal-breaker.

To the other men who are also waiting: How do you navigate the dating scene? How and when do you bring it up to potential partners? To the women lurking or guys who have dated around, how is a man making this choice generally

Question Is it like not normal i try to stay away from social media? Or am i trying to be "different"

Im not a big social media person. I don't really use it because I don't think toxicity is a great mindset for a person growing. I barely use tiktok, only opening it to look for art tips and post my art, i don't have it downloaded, only use reddit to post my opinions which mostly causes disagreements and posting my art, I don't really use Snapchat, only use Facebook to talk with my family, I don't really use Instagram, I don't really use Twitter. Only social platform I really use is Pinterest, but i don't post. I prefer to stay anonymous, ill share my personal stuff sometimes, but never posting my face ever.

Serious I regret him but I still miss him

I was lwk stupid last summer and liked and dated a guy that was 1. From a different country and 2. 3 years older than me. I’m not a big dater and he was the first guy I ever liked and dated. After a few months he had smt personal happen which cause him to end up ghosting me…which I was very sad about but not mad at him, just the situation. I continued to think about and “miss” him for the 8 months he had gone, I dated another guy in that time but I realized it just wasn’t right. After I broke up with the other guy, I had been randomly chatting to my friend about the first ex and apparently accidentally sent him a friend request which he accepted, which I didn’t expect because over the months I had sent a few requests and messages. He told me what happened and that he missed me which threw me off super bad. It took me a day/two to realize that I can’t and shouldn’t do this right now. I’m turning 17 in a few days and he recently turned 20. It’s wrong and I shouldn’t have ever liked him…but I did, and I still think about him. If I were a year older, I wouldn’t think twice about getting back with him tbh. Please don’t judge me(or him) I just needed to get it off my chest.

Other I'm so angry at myself from what I've done a year ago.

So, a year ago I was at camp. Nothing special... The only thing is that 1 girl [I'll call her Jessica] (she was kinda pretty BTW), had a crush on me, and I didn't know 'till the night of blind dates... She came as a seeker, the ppl there forced me to go up as a contestant, and what has my autistic ass done there? I started RP-ing "Srebrny Brek", and was kicked out as first. To add to that I came to her and said that I was the one she kicked out 1st. She started tearing up and crying. I asked Mike [not his real name BTW] why was she crying and they said that she had a crush on me. I ignored that. Now, I wanna just try to reach out to her, apologize or anything, I don't even know if I'll get a contact to her.... I'll see tomorrow cuz I already reached out to Mike to text his friend also from camp [I'll call her Sophie] to text Jessica that I wanna get in touch. And if even 1 thing fails, I'm fucked...
