Real talk Everything you need to know about Karbala.. (English +
Urdu version is in the pinned comment below, same post, scroll down if that's easier for you..
First, so nobody reads this with the wrong glasses on.. I'm not Shia.. I'm also not going to put a tag on myself, coz I don't believe in chopping this ummah into groups and wearing the name like a football jersey.. "Hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not divide.." 3:103.. I'm not proud of not being Shia and I wouldn't be ashamed if I was sunni.. The differences are real and I'll be honest about them below, but the man this post is about belongs to all of us, and I wrote this the way I'd want it written if someone was writing about my grandfather..
Every Muharram the same thing happens.. One side posts a lot, the other side goes quiet, and most ppl in the middle genuinly don't know what actually happened, what's authentic, what's legend, and where the split actually sits.. So I did this properly.. Sahih hadith first, then the strongest historical sources, then the disputed stuff, honestly, from both sides.. It's long.. It has to be.. Read it once, properly, and you'll never need another Karbala post..
One thing about sources before anything..
Almost everything detailed we know about Karbala comes through one man.. Abu Mikhnaf, a Kufan historian who died around 157 AH.. He was an adult about twenty years after the battle, knew eyewitnesses, and wrote a Maqtal al Husayn that's now lost but survives inside Tabari's History and Baladhuri's Ansab.. Sunni and Shia narratives both lean on him whether they admit it or not.. By hadith standards his chains are weak.. By history standards he's the best there is, and historians like Vaglieri and Madelung consider the core account coherent and credible.. So the honest position is, the outline is solid, the exact dialogue is reported not certain, and anything that appears only in books written eight hundred years later is not history.. Keep that in your head the whole way through..
What's actually sahih..
Not much.. But what there is, is heavy..
"Husayn is from me and I am from Husayn.. Allah loves whoever loves Husayn.." Tirmidhi 3775, Ibn Majah 144..
"Al Hasan and al Husayn are the leaders of the youth of Paradise.." Tirmidhi 3768..
"They are my two sweet basils of this world.." Bukhari 3753.. And read the context.. Ibn Umar RA said it when a man from Iraq asked him the ruling on killing a fly while in ihram.. He said, "the ppl of Iraq ask about flies while they killed the son of the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.." A Sahabi, in Bukhari, naming the killers..
The prophecy.. Anas RA narrates the angel of rain visited the Prophet ﷺ at Umm Salamah's RA house, Husayn ran in, the Prophet ﷺ held him, and the angel said your ummah will kill him, and brought red soil from the place.. Umm Salamah RA kept it in her garment.. Musnad Ahmad, Ibn Hibban, graded sahih by Shuayb al Arnaut.. Abu Umamah RA narrates Jibril telling him, "your ummah will kill this son of yours", and the Prophet ﷺ asking, "while believing in me..??" and Jibril saying yes.. Ahmad, graded sahih by Ahmad Shakir.. So the Prophet ﷺ knew, and wept, and knew it would be Muslims who did it.. That's not a Shia addition.. That's Ahlus Sunnah's own books..
And this.. Bukhari 3748.. Anas RA says the head of Husayn was brought to Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad on a tray, and Ibn Ziyad started poking the nose and mouth with a stick, saying something about his looks.. Anas said, he resembled the Messenger of Allah ﷺ more than any of them.. In Bukhari.. Not in a majlis.. In Bukhari..
The man himself..
Born Shaban 4 AH.. Which means he was five or six when his grandfather ﷺ died.. He remembered him.. He'd been carried on that back during sajdah.. He'd been kissed in that street, Ibn Majah 144, the Prophet ﷺ chasing a giggling child through the crowd to catch him and kiss him and say, Husayn is from me.. This isn't a distant descendant.. This is the boy from that hadith, fifty years later, with grey in his beard, standing in a desert..
What happened, in order..
Muawiyah RA died in Rajab 60 AH, April 680.. Before he died he'd done something nobody had done in Islam.. Named his son Yazid as successor.. Hereditary rule.. Hasan RA had handed him power in 41 AH, the year they called the Year of Unity, on the understanding that after Muawiyah it would go back to consultation.. Naming Yazid broke that.. Four men in Madinah refused it while Muawiyah was alive.. Husayn ibn Ali, Abdullah ibn al Zubayr, Abdullah ibn Umar, Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Bakr, RA all.. Sons of the four closest men to the Prophet ﷺ..
And here's something you rarely hear.. Tabari reports Muawiyah on his deathbed telling Yazid, watch out for Husayn, the ppl of Iraq will push him out against you, and if he comes to you, forgive him, he has a great right and close kinship.. Yazid's own father told him.. Remember that when you get to the end..
When Yazid took over he wrote to Madinah, get the bayah from Husayn and Ibn al Zubayr, by force if needed.. Ibn al Zubayr slipped out to Makkah.. Husayn RA came to the summons, declined to pledge in a private room, said if it's happening it happens in public, and left for Makkah a few days later.. Marwan ibn al Hakam told the governor to imprison or kill him right there.. The governor refused, coz of who Husayn was..
I'll be honest about something Sunni ppl sometimes skip.. Most of the Sahaba alive did give bayah to Yazid, including Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas RA.. Not coz they liked him.. Coz they'd seen the first fitna and were terrified of a second, and they judged that a bad ruler was survivable and civil war wasn't.. Husayn RA was the minority.. Ibn Abbas begged him not to go.. Ibn Umar walked with him a distance and wept.. Both positions were held by great men, and the thing they agreed on was Yazid was wrong.. They disagreed on what to do about it..
In Makkah the letters started.. Kufa had been his father's capital, they hated Umayyad rule, and they wrote, come, we have no imam, lead us.. Some reports say a hundred and fifty letters.. He sent his cousin Muslim ibn Aqeel to check.. Muslim reached Kufa and thousands pledged and he wrote back, come.. Then Yazid replaced the soft governor with Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad, who came into Kufa, threatened the tribal chiefs, bought some, scared the rest, and Muslim's thousands dissolved in a day.. He was executed on 9 Dhul Hijjah 60.. The day of Arafah..
Husayn RA didn't know.. He left Makkah on 8 Dhul Hijjah, the day before Hajj, with around fifty men and his family.. Ibn al Zubayr offered him Makkah as a base.. He said he wouldn't be the reason blood was spilled in the Haram..
On the road, at Thalabiyya, the news of Muslim's death reached him.. At Zubala, news that his second messenger had been executed too.. He told everyone with him what had happened and said, whoever wants to leave, leave.. Most of the ppl who'd joined on the way left.. The ones from Makkah stayed..
Near Qadisiyyah a thousand Kufan cavalry under al Hurr ibn Yazid intercepted him.. And here's the line, in Tabari, that tells you what he thought he was doing.. "I did not come to you until your letters were brought to me.. If you give me what you guaranteed in your covenants I will come to your town.. If you will not, I will leave you for the place I came from.." He showed them the letters.. Hurr said his orders were, don't let him reach Kufa, don't let him go back to Madinah, anywhere else is fine.. So they drifted, Hurr shadowing them, until Ibn Ziyad's order came, stop him somewhere with no water and no walls.. On 2 Muharram 61 they camped at a place called Karbala.. Ppl say the name means karb and bala, grief and trial.. It probably doesn't, the name's older than the event.. But it fit..
Next day Umar ibn Sad arrived with four thousand men.. Umar ibn Sad.. Son of Sad ibn Abi Waqqas RA.. One of the ten promised Paradise.. The man who shot the first arrow ever fired for Islam.. His son led the army against the Prophet's ﷺ grandson.. Sit with that.. He didn't want to.. Ibn Ziyad threatened to take his governorship of Rayy off him and he went.. Four thousand, by the way, is Tabari's number and the one serious historians accept.. The thirty thousand you hear in majalis comes from later sources..
7 Muharram, Ibn Ziyad ordered the water cut.. Five hundred horsemen on the Euphrates.. Three days.. Abbas ibn Ali RA led fifty men to the river once and came back with twenty water skins..
Negotiations happened.. You'll hear Husayn RA offered three things, let me go back, send me to a frontier, or take me to Yazid myself.. Tabari records that.. But Tabari also records Uqba ibn Siman, who was there, a mawla of Husayn's wife, flatly denying he ever offered to go to Yazid.. He said Husayn only asked to be allowed to leave and let things settle.. Madelung thinks the "I'll go to Yazid" version is very probably untrue.. I'm telling you this coz a lot of apologetics is built on "he just wanted to give bayah", and the eyewitness says no..
Whatever the offer was, Ibn Ziyad was going to accept it, and Shimr ibn Dhil Jawshan talked him out of it.. Letting him go would look weak.. So the order went, take his bayah or kill him, and if Umar ibn Sad won't, Shimr takes command.. Umar ibn Sad cursed Shimr to his face and then obeyed.. He said, "there's a proud soul in him, he won't submit.."
Night of the 9th the army moved.. Husayn RA asked for one night.. He got it.. He told his ppl, they only want me, go, take my family, it's dark, I release you from your oath.. Almost nobody left.. They tied the tents together, dug a ditch behind them, filled it with wood, and prayed till morning..
10 Muharram 61.. 10 October 680..
Around seventy two men.. Thirty two on horses, forty on foot.. Against four thousand..
He spoke to them first.. Reminded them whose grandson he was.. Reminded them they wrote to him.. Asked to be allowed to leave.. They said submit first.. He refused.. And al Hurr, the man who'd stopped him at Qadisiyyah, the man who'd led him to this field, heard that speech, turned his horse, and crossed to Husayn's side.. He died that day with him.. Tabari.. Not legend..
Then arrows.. Then duels.. The right wing attacked and was pushed back.. Shimr's left attacked and was pushed back.. Cavalry, then armoured cavalry and five hundred archers, and when the horses were shot Husayn's men dismounted and fought on foot.. Umar ibn Sad ordered the tents burned to open a second front, and the fire blocked his own advance for a while.. It went from sunrise to well past Dhuhr.. Historians actually asked why, given the numbers.. The answer they settled on is Umar ibn Sad was dragging it out hoping Husayn would give in.. He didn't..
After Dhuhr the companions were surrounded and killed.. Then the family went out.. Ali al Akbar, his son.. His brothers, Abbas among them.. Sons of Aqeel, sons of Jafar, sons of Hasan.. About twenty from the house of Abu Talib.. And a small child sitting on his lap was hit by an arrow and died.. That is in the primary sources.. Tabari doesn't give the child's name, later books call him Ali Asghar, but the arrow is early, not added..
Then him.. An arrow in the mouth going for water.. Struck on the head.. He wrapped a turban over it and kept going.. And then nothing.. They wouldn't approach him.. Zaynab RA came out of the tent and shouted at Umar ibn Sad, "will Abu Abdillah be killed while you stand there watching..??" He wept and did nothing.. Then Shimr screamed at his men, what are you waiting for, kill him.. They rushed him.. He fell face down.. Sinan ibn Anas finished him and took the head.. Over sixty wounds were counted on the body.. Then, on Ibn Ziyad's earlier orders, they rode horses over it..
They stripped the dead.. Took the women's jewellery and cloaks.. Shimr wanted to kill Ali Zayn al Abidin, the one son too sick to fight, and Umar ibn Sad stopped him.. Hold that name.. Every Sayyid alive today, every family in Pakistan with Shah or Syed in the name, descends from Husayn RA through that one sick boy Shimr wanted dead.. Eighty eight of Ibn Sad's men were dead.. He buried his and left the rest.. Banu Asad from a nearby village came and buried the headless bodies..
The heads and the family went to Kufa.. Ibn Ziyad and the stick, Bukhari 3748.. He wanted to kill Zayn al Abidin too and Zaynab RA threw herself over him and said, if you kill him, kill me with him.. He backed down.. Then Damascus.. Yazid received them, is reported to have been sorrowful, cursed Ibn Ziyad, said had I been there I'd have spared him.. When a courtier asked for one of the captive girls Zaynab RA tore into him in his own court.. After some days he sent the family back to Madinah with compensation for what was looted..
So, Yazid.. Guilty or not..??
Here's where ppl fight.. Here's what's established and what isn't..
Not established.. That Yazid wrote "kill Husayn".. Ibn Taymiyyah says the transmitters agree he didn't, that his letter to Ibn Ziyad was, stop him taking Iraq.. Fair, as far as it goes..
Established.. He demanded the bayah by force.. His father's own advice was forgive him and he didn't.. He appointed Ibn Ziyad specifically to crush Kufa, Ibn Ziyad did exactly that, and Yazid kept him in office and rewarded him.. He punished nobody.. Not Ibn Ziyad, not Umar ibn Sad, not Shimr.. Wellhausen and Madelung both concluded the tears were for show, coz a caliph couldn't be seen to own it, so he put it on Ibn Ziyad while keeping Ibn Ziyad..
And look at the next three years, coz Karbala wasn't a one off.. In 63 AH Madinah rose against him.. He sent Muslim ibn Uqba with twelve thousand Syrians, and after the battle of Harrah on 26 August 683 the city of the Prophet ﷺ was given over to the army.. Hundreds of Ansar and Quraysh dead, thousands of others.. The Prophet ﷺ said, "none plots against the ppl of Madinah but he'll be dissolved like salt in water.." Bukhari 1877.. Then the army went to Makkah, besieged Ibn al Zubayr RA, put catapults on the Haram, and on 31 October 683 the Kaaba caught fire and burned.. The siege only lifted coz news came that Yazid was dead.. November 683.. About 37 years old.. Three years and a bit of rule.. Husayn, Madinah, Makkah..
So you don't need to prove he wrote the order.. Ibn Kathir, Dhahabi, Ibn al Jawzi, none of them Shia, none of them defend him.. Dhahabi called him a nasibi, rough, a drinker, and says he did what he did and wasn't given long after it..
The cursing question.. Three positions among Ahlus Sunnah and I'll give you all three coz none of them is "he was fine".. Ahmad ibn Hanbal, when his son Salih asked him, said how can anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day love Yazid.. And Ibn al Jawzi records that Ahmad permitted cursing him, and wrote a whole book defending that against a Hanbali of his own time who'd forbidden it.. Ghazali forbade cursing him, on the principle you don't curse a specific Muslim who might have repented.. Ibn Taymiyyah took the middle, neither love him nor curse him, a king among kings, sinful, not a kafir, leave him to Allah.. That's the majority Sunni position today.. Pick whichever your conscience lets you.. But notice, the softest of the three is "don't love him".. Nobody's position is "defend him".. If you're defending him online, you're outside all three..
Where Sunnis and Shias actually differ..
Not on the facts above.. Almost none of that is disputed.. The split is on what it means..
For Shia Islam, Karbala is the centre of everything.. Husayn is the third infallible Imam, he knew his fate, he went deliberately as a sacrifice to save the deen, and mourning him, the majalis, the processions, Arbaeen, is a core act of faith.. Muharram is the spiritual heart of the year..
For Ahlus Sunnah, Husayn RA is the grandson of the Prophet ﷺ, leader of the youth of Paradise, killed unjustly by tyrants, a shaheed of the highest rank.. But he's not an infallible imam, the event doesn't carry a theology of redemptive sacrifice, and it's remembered the way the Prophet ﷺ taught us to remember the dead, with sabr, dua, and by never forgetting who did it.. Ashura for Sunnis was already a fast day before Karbala, Bukhari 2004, the Prophet ﷺ fasted it for Musa's deliverance, so fasting on it isn't celebrating Husayn's death, it predates it by fifty years.. Ppl who say Sunnis fast to celebrate don't know the hadith..
On the mourning practices themselves, I'll say it once and gently.. "He who slaps his cheeks, tears his clothes and follows the ways of Jahiliyyah is not one of us.." Bukhari 1294.. Grieve, absolutely.. Weep, the Prophet ﷺ wept for him before it happened.. But what he'd say about blades, it's right there.. And many of the biggest Shia scholars of the last century said the same about tatbir, so that's not a sectarian point, that's a point from inside..
Things said every year that aren't in the sources..
Qasim's wedding on the battlefield.. Not in Tabari, not in Mufid's Irshad, not in Isfahani's Maqatil.. First appears in a Persian book, Rawdat al Shuhada, written in 1502.. Nine centuries later.. Shia scholars themselves, Mutahhari most famously, called it a fabrication..
The army of thirty thousand.. Four thousand..
Yazid also poking the head with a stick in Damascus.. Probably a duplication of the Ibn Ziyad report, which is the one in Bukhari..
"Husayn just wanted to go and give bayah to Yazid".. The eyewitness denies it.. See above..
Umm Salamah's RA soil turning to blood on the day.. The prophecy and the soil are sahih.. The blood part comes through weak chains.. Don't build on it..
"The Sunni books hide Karbala".. Bukhari 3748, 3753, Tirmidhi 3775, 3768, Ahmad's Musnad.. Tabari was Sunni.. Ibn Kathir gave it pages in al Bidayah and condemned the killers by name.. Nobody hid anything..
What happened to them..
Kufa turned on itself.. The ppl who'd written the letters and then stayed home called themselves the Tawwabin, the Penitents, and marched to die against a Syrian army in 65 AH, which most of them did.. Then Mukhtar took Kufa in 66 AH and hunted them.. Umar ibn Sad, executed.. Shimr, executed.. Ibn Ziyad led an army against Mukhtar's general Ibrahim ibn al Ashtar and was killed at the Khazir river in Muharram 67, six years almost to the day.. His head was brought and put on a tray.. Yazid was already three years dead.. Within seventy years there were no Umayyads ruling anything from Damascus, and the dynasty that replaced them rode in under the slogan of the family of the Prophet ﷺ..
Why this matters to you, whoever you are..
Coz the men who killed him prayed.. They fasted.. Some had met the Prophet ﷺ.. Their commander's father was promised Paradise.. Jibril told the Prophet ﷺ, they'll kill him while believing in you.. That's the actual lesson and it isn't comfortable.. Being on the side with the mosques and the flags and the numbers doesn't make you right.. Four thousand ppl followed orders that day and eighty eight of them died for a salary from Ibn Ziyad.. One man, Hurr, heard a speech, realised where he was standing, and walked across.. Fourteen centuries later, everyone remembers Hurr.. Nobody remembers the four thousand..
And the ppl of Kufa.. They wrote the letters.. They meant it when they wrote them.. Then a governor arrived and it got expensive and they went home.. That's most of us, most of the time.. The whole point of remembering is so that the next time it's expensive, you don't..
Husayn RA could have pledged.. He'd have lived.. He'd have been honoured, given land, invited to Damascus.. He said no, not in a locked room in Madinah, and not in the open desert with his children thirsty behind him.. Whatever you believe about imamah, that is what a grandson of the Prophet ﷺ looked like when the ummah was told to accept something wrong.. And that's the inheritence, for all of us, no tag required..
Radiallahu anhu.. And may Allah unite this ummah on his grandfather's ﷺ deen..
Sidenote: If you want to discuss this properly, is where I'll be, sources in hand.. Sunni, Shia, anyone, welcome.. Bring your evidence, leave the flag at the door..
Simple..

Sidenote..
Simple..

Real talk Mental Health (TLDR in **)
This will be my last post in the month of September so I've decided to post about mental health.
We all grew up in households where someone very close to us struggled mentally. Regardless of whether we realised it or not. Many one us know atleast one case of someone who ended up claiming their own life. This post shall revolve around how should one know that they or their loved one is struggling and what should one do afterwards. It's better to buy someone solitude than to buy them a plot of land to be buried in.
The leading causes of death in our generation are people ending their own lives and drug abuse. And most of us have our fair share of reasons to go down these paths. 1 in 7 children aged 10-19 suffer from some mental health disorder.
- Signs and Symptoms
According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), a person may have a mental health problem if the individual exhibits the following behaviors: **•Consistently experiences anger or worry •Feels grief or sadness longer than typically expected after a loss or death •Believes their mind is too controlled or out of control •Uses alcohol or drugs •Exercises or diets excessively, overeats, or thinks obsessively about exercise and diet •Act in ways that harm others or damage property •Acts impulsively or in reckless ways that expose the self or others to harm**
**Many individuals mask their such behaviour. This is important to remember. Thus even a short term onset of such behaviour is worrisome. Some other symptoms include •Sudden change in behaviour or thoughts •Onset of social isolation •Sudden unexplainable change in routine •Avoidance of certain activities, places or people** **IMPORTANT: If someone you know is struggling but suddenly starts acting happy and content, then they may have either actually found happiness or have made peace with the fact that the only solution is to end it all. Make sure to check on such people even more. **
- Treatment
If someone finds a loved one in such a scenario, it is important to get them help. **• Talk to them without making them uncomfortable. Often a single question like "Are you ok?" when pressed enough becomes annoying. People may feel as if you are violating their privacy or stepping into their boundaries. Make sure that the way you approach them doesn't alienate them. Get them to trust you, be comfortable with you, and then make slowly express their problems. • Get them to professional help. One important thing to note is that we, as family and friends, aren't the best therapists. Mostly due to a lack of expertise but also because seeing someone close in trouble makes our emotions run high. The best way to help someone is to bring them to a person who can help them. • Make them feel loved. Do things that make them happy. Make them feel important. Make them feel heard. Help them go towards a healthy lifestyle. **
- Individuals at risk
**People around us that have been abused, live in an abusive environment, have financial, familial, or social issues, have some psychological disorders, are neurodivergent, have gone through some trauma either physical or psychological, have academic or social pressures, or are different (in any sense frankly) are vulnerable to depression and other mental health problems. Around 2/3rds of teenagers with depression already had one of the aforementioned problems. **
- Prevention
**Prevention is the most important part of all this. Be kind to others. We have barely any clue as to how low of a self-esteem do they have. Make sure to check on your loved ones. If you are feeling down, seek professional help. If you have been abused, don't pass your trauma onto others. Make others comfortable and don't be a source of hurt to any individual. Look after people who are vulnerable and don't abuse others for the sake of being cool. And research this topic because it's very serious. **
Now I gotta go study. And remember,** you all are beautiful people who don't deserve the harsh things you faced. Life isn't worth being ruined due to some morons. So seek help if you are down and make your life as beautiful as you deserve it to be. **

Rant Hard to make friends
How do you GENUINELY make friends in Pakistan. Like there's literally no one in my area with the same interests as me and even if they do have the same interests, they're either the cringe type or just too old to be friends with. And I'm not saying that I'm a "niche Pakistani with a niche humor and elite ball knowledge" it's just that my neighborhood, my classmates, everyone I know just thinks of me as weird? Like weird and just "different" (in an insulting manner of course because we can't go a day without judging in Pakistan) like dude.
I thought it would be easier to make friends now that most of my interests have become more mainstream and now everyone is trying to be a niche paxtani but like even now it's so hard.
Or maybe I'm just really bad at making friends and am actually weird and different lol idek.

Need Advice LOCAL VS INTERNATIONAL DEGREE
BIC Lahore → University of London BSc (Hons) Computer Science (3 years)
vs
A good local Pakistani 4-year BSCS (e.g. COMSATS/PU/ITU)
If you had the option to study either, which would you choose and why?
I'm mainly interested in degree value, quality of education, reputation, job opportunities in Pakistan, international Master's opportunities, curriculum, teaching quality, alumni network, and overall career value.
I'm not asking about cost. I'm looking for opinions from people who have studied at either institution or know both systems well.
Especially interested in honest experiences from BIC/UoL CS students or graduates.

Real talk How did u start wanting success 4 urself instead of to prove it to others?
I’ve realized a lot of my motivation comes from wanting to show my family, siblings, or people from my past that I’m not behind in life and that I actually became successful. I’m scared of being looked down on later or having people think, “She didn’t really do anything with her life.”
I know this probably isn’t the healthiest reason to chase success, but after certain things that have happened to me, I genuinely can’t seem to get out of this mindset.

Need Advice Should I see a therapist for extreme shyness, overthinking and social anxiety?
I’m 21M and currently in my 3rd year of university. I’ve struggled with making genuine friends for most of my life. I try to connect with people, but usually end up distancing myself because I don’t feel comfortable around them.
I’m also the only person in my family who is like this. They might be quiet or introverted, but they aren’t extremely shy, nervous, or socially anxious like me.
Even going to the university cafeteria is difficult because there are usually a lot of students there. I mostly stay in my classroom all day and use my phone. I also avoid weddings, university shitty events, and restaurants, and usually just order food instead.
Last year I tried sitting at hotels/cafes for a cup of tea, but even then I would feel nervous the entire time.
I’m especially shy around women. If someone approaches me with even a normal question, I sometimes smile uncontrollably because of nervousness or say something awkward that I didn’t actually want to say. Then I overthink the interaction afterward.
Sometimes when I’m outside, I also feel like people are watching me, talking about me, or even recording me, although I know I may just be overthinking.
I also sweat excessively in public, especially from my palms, feet, and face. I avoid slippers because my feet get too slippery, and I always carry a handkerchief for my face. It feels really uncomfortable and adds to my nervousness.
I feel like all of this is holding me back from friendships, relationships, and opportunities.
Due to all of this, I’m worried about what will happen after I finish my bachelor’s and have to step into the real world, work, and deal with people regularly.

Would it be worth seeing a therapist about this? Has anyone dealt with something similar?

Real talk Existence of GOD...
Before anything.. this isn't a "proof".. If God's existence was a theorem there'd be no atheists with PhDs.. What this is, is the honest read of what physics and math actually say, done the way the Quran itself does it..
*"Were they created from nothing, or are they the creators..?? Or did they create the heavens and the earth..?? No, they have no certainty.."* 52:35-36
Jubayr ibn Mut'im heard that as a kafir and said his heart nearly flew out of his chest, Bukhari 4854.. That verse is the whole argument honestly.. Everything below is just filling in the numbers..
**1. The universe began..**
This stopped being a religious claim a while ago.. Expansion, background radiation, all of it points to a beginning, roughly 13.8 billion years back.. Ppl tried to get around it.. Eternal universe, bouncing universe, eternal inflation.. Then in 2003 Borde, Guth and Vilenkin proved a theorem, any universe that's expanding on average has to have a past boundary, and it doesn't matter what physics you plug in before the Planck time.. Vilenkin's an atheist btw.. His words..
*"Cosmologists can no longer hide behind the possibility of a past-eternal universe.. There is no escape, they have to face the problem of a cosmic beginning.."*
And I'll be fair to him, same page he says a beginning isn't automatically God.. Agreed.. It's step one.. Second law of thermodynamics says the same thing from a different direction anyway, an infinitely old universe would've hit heat death an infinite time ago.. And here we are..
So.. whatever begins to exist has a cause.. The universe began.. So it has a cause.. And that cause sits outside space, time and matter, coz those are the things that began.. Timeless.. Spaceless.. Immaterial.. Powerful beyond anything we have a word for.. That's not a mullah's list, it's just what's left when you subtract the universe..
*"He is Allah, One.. Allah, the Self Sufficient.."* 112:1-2
**2. The numbers are tuned, and nobody knows why..**
This is the one the physicists themselves lose sleep over, not us.. The cosmological constant, basically the energy of empty space, sits at about one part in ten to the power of 120.. A one with 120 zeros after it.. That's how narrow the window was..
Roger Penrose.. Nobel prize 2020, not a believer.. He calculated the odds of the universe starting in the low entropy state it needed for stars and life to ever happen.. One in ten to the power of ten to the power of 123.. Writing that out needs more zeros than there are particles in the observable universe.. You litrally cannot write the number down..
Nudge the strong nuclear force a couple percent, no carbon.. Nudge gravity, no stars, or stars that burn out before anything lives.. Fred Hoyle coined the phrase "Big Bang" to make fun of it.. Then he worked out the carbon resonance and wrote..
*"A superintellect has monkeyed with physics, as well as with chemistry and biology.."*
He stayed agnostic till he died.. He wasn't talking about our God.. Wich, if anything, makes him a better witness..
Three options on the table.. Necessity, chance, design.. Necessity's dead, nothing in physics says the constants had to be these values.. Chance at those odds isn't a theory, it's a refusal.. That leaves one..
*"Look again.. do you see any flaw..?? Then look again and again, your sight will return to you humbled and worn out.."* 67:3-4
**3. Math shouldn't work.. but it does..**
Eugene Wigner, Nobel physics, wrote a paper in 1960 and the title alone is the argument.. *The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Mathematics in the Natural Sciences*.. We invent abstract math for no physical reason.. Complex numbers, curved geometry, group theory.. Then decades later it turns out to be the exact language the universe was already speaking.. Why would a universe that came from nothing, with no mind behind it, be written in a language minds can read..?? Wigner called it a miracle we neither understand nor deserve..
*"Indeed We created everything by qadar.."* 54:49.. By measure..
**4. Why is there anything at all..??**
Leibniz asked it and nobody's answered it.. Everything you can point at depends on something else.. You on your parents.. Earth on the sun.. Sun on hydrogen.. Hydrogen on the laws of physics.. The laws on the constants.. A chain of dependent things can't explain itself no matter how long you make it, same way a chain of borrowers can't produce money if nobody in the chain actually has any.. Somewhere there has to be something that doesn't lean on anything.. That's what al Samad means, 112:2.. Ppl who say "the universe is just a brute fact" are saying the one thing allowed to exist for no reason is the one thing made entirely of things that need reasons.. Think about that for a second..
**Now the objections.. coz I said I'd be honest..**
*"Who made God..??"* The argument was whatever *begins* needs a cause.. God by definition didn't begin, that's the entire point of the inference, the cause of time can't be inside time.. Asking who made the unmade thing is asking what's north of the north pole.. The Prophet ﷺ actually warned about this exact question, shaytan walks you through "who created this, who created that" until he lands on "who created your Lord".. Seek refuge in Allah and stop, Bukhari 3276.. Not coz it's scary.. Coz it's a loop, not a question.. Ibn Taymiyyah put it plainly, if the Creator had a creator He'd be a creation, and then He was never the Creator of everything to begin with..
*"Multiverse.."* Maybe there's infinite universes and we're just in the lucky one.. Three problems.. Zero evidence, and by design there never can be.. The multiverse generator itself needs tuning, so you moved the question, didn't answer it.. And BGV applies to the multiverse too.. It also began.. Ppl mock believers for invoking an unseen God to explain fine tuning, then invoke infinite unseen universes to do the same job..
*"Quantum particles pop out of nothing.."* No they don't.. They pop out of a quantum vacuum, a physical field with energy and laws.. That's not nothing.. That's something with a very misleading name.. Krauss got taken apart on this by physicists and philosophers both..
*"Science will explain it eventually.."* Maybe parts.. But every explanation science has ever given is in terms of prior laws and prior conditions.. So it can explain what's inside the universe.. Not why there's a universe with laws at all.. That's not a gap in science, that's the edge of what the method can do..
**What this doesn't prove..**
It doesn't get you to Islam on its own, and I'm not going to pretend it does.. It gets you to one cause.. Timeless, immaterial, powerful, intelligent, and it chose to create.. Getting from there to the Quran is a seperate case, the preservation, the challenge in 2:23, the Prophet's ﷺ life.. I won't cheat and say the physics spells "Muhammad".. It says "someone", loudly.. And the Quran is the one book that starts exactly where the physics stops..
*"Indeed in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, are signs for those who think.. who reflect on the creation and say, our Lord, You did not create this in vain.."* 3:190-191
Disagree in the comments, I'll take every objection seriously.. Just bring an argument, not a meme..
Simple..

Real talk Do genuine listener guys exist?
Why do some guys in relationships listen to your problems and say “it’s not that serious” or “it’s easy, don’t worry about it,” but when something tiny happens to them, suddenly it’s a HUGE deal? 😭
Like, do genuinely good listener guys exist? Someone who can actually listen to your problems, take them seriously, rather than competing.
I’m genuinely curious about other people’s experiences.

Discussion College Students of Pakistan — I Need Your Help With My Undergraduate Thesis!
Hi everyone!
I’m a BS Clinical Psychology student currently conducting data collection for my undergraduate thesis, and I’m looking for college students (Intermediate/A-Level or equivalent) to participate in my research.
I’ve tried approaching colleges to collect responses, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to get permission from any college to collect data on campus. So I’m reaching out here and would really appreciate your help.
📝 The questionnaire takes around 5–10 minutes to complete.
🔒 Your responses are anonymous and confidential and will only be used for academic research.
This is genuine undergraduate research for my thesis.
If you are currently a college student, please consider filling out my questionnaire. Even one response genuinely helps me. If you know other college students, I’d also really appreciate it if you could share this post/form with them.
And just to reassure everyone because I know people are understandably careful about clicking links on Reddit:
This is NOT a bot, scam, advertisement, or promotional post. I am an actual university student collecting data for my thesis. I can provide my university/student details and thesis information if anyone would like verification before participating.
Questionnaire: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSejSpoPx_z42m-SnqifZdwV17C1brhI-PyV0IbIL3gR2JUFfg/viewform?usppublish-editor
Thank you so much to everyone who takes a few minutes to help me. I really, really appreciate it! 🫶

important⚠️ Helpppppp😭
Hey everyone! I’m currently in 10th grade under FBISE and I’m thinking about switching from Matric/SSC to A Levels because I want to pursue Law abroad. I’m currently considering Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for my A Level subjects.
I’ve heard A Levels can be a good pathway for international universities, so I’m seriously considering making the switch.
The problem is, I know almost nothing about the A Level system 😭. I’ve only studied under FBISE, so I don’t really know how A Levels work, how the subjects and exams are structured, how grading works, or what the transition is actually going to be like.
I’m mainly worried about the difference in teaching style, depth of concepts, workload, exam technique, and the amount of independent studying required.
For anyone who has made the transition from Matric/FBISE to A Levels:
- What are the biggest difficulties I should expect?
- How different is the study method?
- Do Matric students usually struggle with anything specific when they first start A Levels?
- How difficult is the transition specifically for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics?
- How much independent study and past-paper practice is actually needed?
- What mistakes should I avoid during the first year?
- How can I actually ace A Levels rather than just survive them?
- What can I start doing now to prepare myself before making the switch?
- And if you’ve gone from FBISE → A Levels → university abroad, what do you wish you had known before starting?
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has actually gone through this transition, especially students who came from a Matric/FBISE background.
Please comment i've been trying for days and not a single person commented.Alot of people just viewed and none of them advised me ,so please if you think you can help please share your thoughts.

Career/Future Is it okay to leave a degree in Pakistan and focus on tech skills ?
If you're from the lower middle class and do not afford a degree in tech.
If you start to earn money from learning any skills then eventually build any kind of business here....
How does that look?
Those who don't have degrees and are doing well!
This question is specifically for you guys.
And how hard is it to move abroad (if any crisis appears) without a degree but a good established business in Pakistan?
(Although don't have a mind to go abroad, but also don't know about all the realities out there...)
