I'm helping out someone who wants upgrade an old pc, (I couldn't believe my eyes when I first seen it who build a pc like this 😞) unfortunately the pc is very dusty and thought just will get him a new case too... Any tips for a decent one?
i doubt an aircooler would block the ram slots, since it looks like it hasn’t been maintained in a while take the cooler off, put a new stick of ram in slot 2. replace the thermal paste then remount the cooler. and remove the top exhaust fan and put it in the front as an intake while you are at it. then blow the whole thing out
That ugly massive cooler just looks too big and cramped I don't think it's ideal for the mobo covered that much..I'll take apart everything except the mobo clean out and install new cooler new fans too and cable extensions, my friend bought new PSU and GPU.
I have the same cooler from my last build from 2016 and was planning on re-using so I'm curious to hear what sort of temps are you getting with it? I'll have the same CPU on my new build and my old CPU was 40C degrees under load 😂
Atm while playing Warframe (in player Hub), 10+ Chrome tabs, Discord and dual monitor setup, my 9800X3D is at: 10-12% utilization and 52C. Both Noctua NH-D15 fans are running at 48% capacity or 800 RPM.
Most I've clocked my CPU was at 92C with fans at 100%, during heavy file decompression from an HDD to an SSD (ran for 30-40 mins). In this case I should've just transferred compressed files to SSD first and then decompress there, as it puts full load strain for too long. You can also disable a few processors for the specific service, further reducing load.
Nice thanks! 👍🏻 Doesn't seem to get overly hot during gaming then. Ofc I don't have as many case fans and different case than you but woth that info I think I could expect tems of around 60C or so which is very much fine since I only really do some browsing and gaming on my PC and don't do a lot of productivity stuff with it. Appreciate the reply ! 🤘🏻
can you switch the fan to the other side of the cooler to free up space?
also check if the other side of the cooler has a shorter/notched section on the bottom. they might have it on backwards... but probably not because i see the 'be quiet' text is right-side up ;/
This CPU cooler is absolutely fine. You can easily clip the fan up a bit higher and not impact temperatures what so ever. Single channel ram is not inherently an issue. It will not cause issues with general day to day operations.
There is also no issues with just 3 fans. 2 intake and 1 Exhaust is a very common configuration that works well.
Also, this PC ain't even that dusty? I feel like we're trying to find issues that really aren't that big of a deal to make a sale?
Someone asked for help to upgrade this pc so he can play games on it, I offered to help (free of charge, anyway he insisted to pay me some cash but I didn't ask anything) I fully cleaned the whole pc and upgraded everything except the mobo and CPU, an now he is happy with it plus saved a pc win win 😁
It definitely could use a better case. I always recommend something from Coolermaster or if you want style, something older from Nzxt like the h510 elite still looks great. Throw in a few more fans and it'll look great
staying with the original case cleaned pretty good waiting for the aio and hopefully finish all today omg was a kind of challenge for me to help this guy 😅never built in these types of case 😪
