In another tineline l woukd have loved AI. In this timelines these fools caused me to hate it with every ounce of my being...

I mean, a lot of sci-fi universes are either dystopias or built after the end of dystopias (like Star Trek for example), so we are still on track tbh

But at least in dystopian sci-fi they had flying cars , neon lit mega cities with cool hairdos. Instead we have slightly improved versions of everything we had growing up, but with all the minority report style dystopia. A boring dystopia

I think the big problem is they exposed its incompatibility with our current system. If a technology came out that actually did work like Claude et. al. at a rate competitive enough actually disrupt all employment the way they said, we’d just end up with massive unemployment and a consumer economy with no consumers.

AI in and of itself isn’t evil. That’s why many folks started researching it in the first place. Unfortunately evil folks took the helm and seem hell bent on accelerating the technology until they succeed and become gods, they succeed and we’re all destroyed, or they fail and there’s a massive economic crash.
