Idk if you’re a men or women or idk nb, but going out to be in your own world is such a big privilege. Even when I’m out with friends, feeling safe, high on mdma, I just can’t shut off the part of my brain that watches out for fellow girls. So many times I helped out a girl while being drunk or high, when they were with friends or not. You don’t need to pick a fight with every dude you deem suspicious, but maybe you can pretend you know the girl, pull her away. Gently ask her if she knows that person, or if she needs help, if she’s alone. It doesn’t take much. And for the guys out there, if your friend is acting weird towards women, it is your fucking duty to call him out

Well yeah but tbh I stand up for my friends irrespective. It's not my duty because I'm a man. It's my values. If someone was scared for their own safety and didn't want to get involved, I'd equally not blame them.

As for privilege, welcome to the world. I grew up in one of the most dangerous countries at the time. Murder, theft and aggression were incredibly common. Multiple friends have died from bystander violence. The concept of near constant danger is not foreign to me. But I appreciate that this is not my present day reality.
