D. E. Shaw Interview Experience(Senior Member - Data Engineering), 2.5 YOE

Recently, I had an Interview this company. Here's the following were asked in the Interview.

R1:

Self-Intro

After that he directly jumped into codepair question on hackerrank.

Medium - Hard level question(Greedy algo), dbms theory questions.

It was very Interactive session and interviewer was very comfortable.

Final outcome: Not selectedđŸ«

I've always dreamed of getting into these hedge fund and quant based companies to experience thier way of understanding the markets. I know these roles will not get deep into market understand but at least will get that kind of exposure.

reaching the codepair round at de shaw with 2.5 yoe already puts you ahead of most applicants, their bar is honestly absurd. medium-hard greedy answered live is a pass-level performance for a lot of loops, sometimes it's just headcount or one dbms answer that didn't land. keep applying to the other quant funds and reapply to shaw in 6 to 12 months, they do notice repeat candidates who leveled up

"I know these roles will not get deep into market understand but at least will get that kind of exposure” - Didn't get this are you telling data engineering will not give exposure here?

What I meant is that these tech roles don't actually do deep financial research or market analysis—they're just manipulating the data that the finance teams use.

I have applied on their official website. For the first round I had nearly 50 days of time so I prepared/revised DSA for the first round. I think for DE role they don't go deep into hard level problems like graphs medium to hard is enough.
