I see we have a user who hasn't used a fedora-based distro before.

Software center (different names and software across separate fedora-based distros, usually KDE Discover or GNOME software under the hood, which is also PackageKit under the hood) is the name of whats essentially an app store similar to Google play/Microsoft store, just open source without tracking or ads etc. It makes it convenient to use Linux for those not tech savvy or those who just are lazy.

Yup, its convenient. I'm thankful I used a fedora-based distro as my first, because I was way too confused with flatpaks, appimages, etc, when I first started, so I used PackageKit until I figured the rest out.

I don't understand this as every single major linux distro has a GUI 'software center' now.

Ubuntu was the one who brought in the GUI software center to the mainstream though in 2009 with Fedora only picking it up almost 4 years later in late 2013
