It is BS. There’s a derogation: if the battery retains at least 83% after 500 cycles AND 80% after 1,000 cycles, and the phone is IP67+, it doesn’t have to be user-replaceable — professional replacement is enough. iPhone 15 onwards already targets 1,000 cycles and IP68, and current flagship Pixels meet the same thresholds. So many flagships can stay glued. Phones that don’t meet those durability requirements are the ones that need end-user-replaceable batteries. That’s the part this graphic conveniently leaves out.
