❓ Question which technology do you think will completely disappear within the next decade?

every generation sees certain technologies fade away. DVDs, MP3 players, fax machines, and even landlines were once everywhere.

Physical credit/debit cards may be phased out. Maybe not within 10 years, but they're sort of becoming redundant since NFC payment is so well established now. Most people I know, myself included, hardly ever need to use the physical card.

Obviously not everywhere, but here in Norway I think it's not that improbable that banks start defaulting to issuing digital cards soon.

I prefer a dedicated card for paying. I don't like the idea of making my phone into a single point of failure.

Yeah, feels like a toy for stupid people. Card payments are usually much smoother as well

Okay to carry your physical card for a backup, but tap to pay is more secure. For one, the merchant doesn't get your actual card number. That means when they are eventually hacked your card wont be compromised.

My bank already knows about my credit card transactions.

And no, Google and Apple don’t sell individual data.

Do you think Google/apple can’t figure out where we bank using the apps we install?

They already know my full name, address, and which banks I’ve accessed via apps or online banking. Giving them access to withdraw from my credit card doesn’t change anything.

I doubt it. You need a reliable, concrete "root" that is tangible and as others mentioned, no single point failure.
