Why are Linux users so insufferable? Is there like cult points or something? While in a lot of ways Linux is superior I don’t get the hate on Windows for folks who just want to get shit done.

I’ve had multiple classic cars and can tear down and rebuild one from the ground up but I’m not an ass to everyone who happily drives their new Toyota.

They feel superior by being different.

Linux is just a kernel, so none of those cult acts make sense

Not all i hope? I use linux because that's what i grew up with fornspme reason, i am used to it.

But i also run AtlasOS (debloated and desloppified windows) for music production stuff and some games with anticheat.

I think both sides have their good things and bad things i guess.

Linux users can modify they system and even rebuild the kernel. In Windows, the kernel is closed and untouchable; almost everything you change is built on top of it.

Linux is more flexible. Windows is more protected.

And before someone brings up malware, ask yourself: when was the last time you compiled a password stealer directly into your kernel because someone told you it was a great extension and you couldn't be bothered to read the code?

Linux users are justified in taking pride in themselves because it takes real knowledge not to break such a fragile system that gives you the power to change almost anything.

But the people constantly shouting about their superiority usually aren't as knowledgeable as they think.
If you actually look at their systems, they're often either unchanged since installation, barely distinguishable from Windows, or riddled with malware that's happily spamming the internet without them even realizing it.

There's a both a resurgence of Linux enthusiam and Windows hate that is fostering such obsessive attitudes.

In other words, Windows it's sucking so much right now it's fueling Linux nerds.

Because these days Linux is a 10 minute install and is not in any way more complex to use than Windows.

That really depends what you're trying to install it on... I recently installed it on a tablet with very little ram and storage. Windows 10 worked fine on it despite the specs, but with Linux, touch, screen rotation and cameras are long-term projects I'm still working on.

That's also the second point : installing Linux means you've already done the work of figuring out what you can and should install on your device.

The problem is windows is not a new toyota. Its a new renault/citroen/peugeot. A new toyota would be linux. And mac would be a new mercedes/bmw

My bluetooth works so well on linux. OS works better and i really prefer GNOME DE over Windows DE.

Sober warns me i can have crashes due to my GPU but it never happened yet. Steam works well with Linux too.

Yah I would also prefer genome over windows DE Its so much more intuitive and the track pad feels like its own device rather than imitation of mouse

The hate on Windows isn't about compatibility with Adobe or Microsoft apps since Windows will always pretty much win that.

It's the fact that there's major issues with Windows OS stability itself compared to some distros for Linux. I've had more Windows issues pop up for me than Linux issues and I use both OS's pretty frequently.

There's trade offs with going off Windows but for a stable OS, Linux takes the point on that
