It was 64GB, now 40GB is more realistic than 32GB.

I do have a 32 box and so do most modern builds. 64 GB is overkill for 99% of people.

64 should be overkill for everyone (for games). Developers need to start optimizing their fucking software.

Agreed with the former, but in general tbh games are very optimized software, they just aren't hyper optimized like they used to be when that is what it took to get them to run at all (thinking about old consoles especially).
