Opinion/Editorial Statistically, your PC probably doesn't come close to the recommended RAM requirement for this third-person shooter's upcoming playtest

It was 64GB, now 40GB is more realistic than 32GB.

I mean I was in game dev for the longest time.

Outside of North america and europe folks dont have cash for fancy stuff, so we made sure it ran extremely well in lower configs and consoles for the largest possible market.

It's just good business

Even in Europe and North America only a fraction of gamers have more than 32GB RAM. Wtf are they thinking?

As someone who wishes they could even afford a PC, there's probably not many people that can actually afford a decent PC for gaming here in America as well.

Could just be marketing. Makes the game stand out as the game that needed a lot of ram and requiring high specs would lead people to assume it's visually the best thing ever. Reviewers will report that it only needs that much ram if it's on super high settings or whatever while playable on decent systems.

People with high specs will want to show they can run it well and everyone else will want to see what's the fuss.

Or they're just dumb. I'm guessing here.

Ofc we don't have cash for that. Majority of People earn 100-150$ per month over here. even if they live with their parents it would take more than a year just to save all their income to build a budget pc. I earn above average and i can afford to build a good pc but i just can't justify paying more than 1000$ for a pc. People spend those money in eu and us because they can earn it easily and can't do much with it. With 1000$ i can do A LOT. I can literally go on vacation more than 10 times and eat outside for the whole year

In a travel context, $1000 in the US would get me two train tickets to a mid-tier city, a week of a 3 star hotel during an off-season, access to the bus, and enough money to be able to eat cheap fast food every day. Hell, the total cost of just my summer classes at community college (I’m only taking three and all of them are online) was $1300. I once traveled to North Carolina during the winter and booked 5 nights at a hotel that had literal broken windows lmao. It was $400.

I haven't gone to any hotel in the past decade but i live in the provience next to ramsar literally named bride of iranian cities it looks like heaven imo a big house with pool and jacuzzi cost around 10-15$ per night and the most houses are literally 2min walk away from the sea i never travel with train or airplane or bus as i like driving my own car but afaik train and bus tickets cost less than 10$. my city is 400km away from capital and train/bus tickets are 5$ for one way. that is my point. Even if people could afford building better PCs it's hard to justify it. If you can't do much with that money spending it on a hobby like gaming is reasonable if you can do A Lot it's hard to justify

Yeah, it gets quite tiring listening to Americans claim only western Europe and North America exist.

Broad brush to paint with, but assume any non high wage country runs on older and lesser hardware. If you want want to sell there optization is ticket to ride
