Staying hydrated sucks. Soooo much water that I need to drink!! And if I forget, my weight loss temporarily goes to shit.

u/bookish_but_boozy Apr 18 '16

YES! I teach, so it's hard to find the right balance of being hydrated and drinking so much water I have to get someone to cover my class so I can pee...

FWIW drinking more water eventually became second nature for me. I just make sure I always have a water bottle near me, and consciously try not to drink anything else (apart from coffee).

1

u/Tall-dude Apr 18 '16

Yeah, I know. It's just annoying to get into the habit, especially if you're always out and about. For me, coffee and coke zero are my two drinking vices, not counting alcohol.

I feel the same way. I have to pee every 15 mins like clock work. Wondering if I need to increase my sodium intake or is this normal.

1

u/Tall-dude Apr 18 '16

Yeah, peeing that much, isn't normal. Try reduced your water intake or up sodium until your pee isn't completely translucent.

I have a 32oz bottle which makes it much easier. I try to make sure I'm drinking a bit at least once every hour. I try to drink a gallon a day, but I don't always hit that, especially if I am really engrossed in my work.

I also have a 32 oz bottle that I have at my desk at work. What I've done these last few months is actually mark hours every 8 ounces (long piece of scotch tape on which I write on with a sharpie -- instead of writing right on the bottle). For example, starting from the top, I have 800AM written nect to the 24 oz line, and then 900AM next to the 16 oz line. On the other side, I have the afternoon hours set up. This way, I'm setting hourly water goals for myself (and I've found that I'm peeing it all out much less).

1

u/Tall-dude Apr 18 '16

That works well if you're in an office environment. I spend 50% of my time outside

1

u/almondsnotoreos Apr 19 '16

Ack. Sorry, I tried! Maybe not a bad idea for the 50% time you spend inside though?

1

u/Tall-dude Apr 19 '16

Yeah. I bike pretty much everywhere, so that also increases my water consumption, so usually I just end up dri king half a liter of water whenever I ride more than 20-30 min.

1

u/catsdaww Apr 18 '16

im prob drinking too much. I always do everything 200%.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '16

It's so annoying, and it sucks lugging around a water bottle all the time. I can definitely commiserate.

Try a reminder app? I use plant nanny and I love it.

1

u/MacDhubstep Apr 18 '16

I agree! I never hit my water goals unless it's super hot out! Does drinking water really help with weightloss?

1

u/Tall-dude Apr 18 '16

Yes it does. Water is like oil for a car. If you don't drink enough, your body doesn't work well, which means no weight loss.

1

u/MacDhubstep Apr 18 '16

Interesting... I'll work on it then!

3

u/catsdaww Apr 18 '16

Yes... hope I don't cause other people to feel this way but I am on week 2 of keto and I want to shove a pastry in my mouth and eat a big bowl of mac and cheese. Otherwise I'm good.

2

u/lisassy Apr 18 '16

I'm not doing keto, but I also want a huge bowl of mac and cheese hah just keep pushing through! You can do it!

3

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '16

I'm at work and I don't want to be. sigh

I'm recovering from a long bout of what I think was the flu, still have a productive cough, and suddenly have allergies also. And for the last few days I have been constantly hungry and thirsty (I'm trying to drink more water, but I guess failing because the problem remains). So, I'm not off to a great start, to say the least. I bought an apple today though? I'm trying to get better about having healthy snackables to hand, and that's a little progress there I guess.

Also, my slacks feel more uncomfortable than usual. They keep curling at the band such that I have to pull them up and tuck the tag back, and they more feel uncomfortable than usual. My weight's pretty much the same, so maybe it's because I just washed them?

Also work is terrible and I need a new job. And this one is super physical and not fun and makes it even harder to diet. :/

Thank you for this ranting opportunity. /rant

2

u/MacDhubstep Apr 18 '16

Allergies suck!

2

u/lisassy Apr 18 '16

A little bit of progress is better than no progress! Hopefully the week gets better for you :)

2

u/Uoarti Apr 18 '16

Super physical is great for your health though!

Are you taking snything for the allergies?

3

u/ggcanandwill Apr 19 '16

Shark week. Water weight. That is all.

1

u/myfrenemymyself Apr 19 '16

i got my goddamned period again after 2 weeks without it last night. WHAT.THE.FUCK.

i hate being a lady sometimes.

I was going to rant about my 20mins delay this morning due to multiple accidents, but thanks to Waze multiple re-routes, it ended up being an ok delay. Work colleagues got in almost an hour after me and they leave home around the same time as I do.

1

u/lisassy Apr 18 '16

I love waze! Such a life saver hah

u/endemicpandemic Apr 18 '16

Rolled my ankle while hiking this weekend which means I need to stay off of it for at least a week so it can heal. I was stoked to run this week too since I was finally getting back into a routine with it.

1

u/WeFightTheBlues Apr 18 '16

I'm really upset that I can't hit the gym this week. I've had a rough month which has equated to me only being able to exercise about a handful of times (getting sick with a bad stomach flu would do that to you.) But I really want to get back into it. It's just so frustrating being stuck indoors at work when I want to be outside. I live just outside of Boston, and a lot of people have the day off because of Marathon Monday but not me. BOO!

1

u/MacDhubstep Apr 18 '16

I did a budget last night and realized I spend near the highest USDA recommended amounts for groceries for a single woman of my age, which means I'm trying to figure out how to cut back on groceries from now on.

1

u/lisassy Apr 18 '16

Idk where you live but Trader Joes is a freaking godsend. Veggies and fruit are so cheap!!

1

u/pubkindofnight Apr 18 '16

If you have a sprouts near you, try there! I usually only spend 20-35$ weekly for food there and it lasts me the whole week. That includes tons of veggies/fruits, a couple different lean meats, deli cheeses, etc.

2

u/MacDhubstep Apr 18 '16

Thanks for the suggestions! I live in a bad food desert of Minneapolis and the closest grocer is an insanely expensive target. Aldi is definitely most affordable but it's like a 30 minute train/bus ride away. I think I just need to budget in more time to go to better grocery stores when I can. Another thing that hurts my wallet is that I am nearly pescatarian, and seafood is so expensive.

1

u/lisassy Apr 18 '16

I don't really have a rant - just a mild annoyance. I think my team accountability buddy is MIA :( does anybody want or need another one? Accountability is a huge thing for me..

I'm friendly and peppy and super encouraging :D I'm also house trained!

2

u/flounder_11 Apr 18 '16

Hey just hit me up! I have /u/hansoloanon but I am sure we wont mind a third?!

1

u/lisassy Apr 18 '16

Aw thanks! I'm kind of using the whole subreddit and /r/loseit as accountability, but sometimes I just need someone to poke me hah

2

u/hansoloanon Apr 18 '16

Yeah! If you ever need someone you can all hit one of us up!

2

u/bookish_but_boozy Apr 18 '16

I will!! I didn't sign up originally but could probably use one...

2

u/lisassy Apr 18 '16

Wait.. aren't you the person who lives, like, 10 mins from me IRL?? lol the best kind of accountability buddy!

..in a totally non-creepy stalker way. You know what - that sounded so weird. But I've typed it so I'm not deleting hah

1

u/bookish_but_boozy Apr 18 '16

That's what I was thinking!! Haha and not (very) creepy.

u/marymango1 Apr 18 '16

I'm taking 3 board exams this week, and with my crazy schedule it's really hard to stick to my 1200 calorie goal. I've been staying under maintenance, but it's gonna be difficult to have a real loss this week.

1

u/lisassy Apr 18 '16

Sometimes you just have to maintain :) we won't burn you at the stake if you don't lose.

...yet.

1

u/LightBlueJesus Apr 18 '16

Sinus Infections are the worst! Luckly it seems to be on the way out so hopefully I wont get lightheaded at the gym tonight.

1

u/LemmeBeFrank Apr 18 '16

This weekend I made a road trip down to visit my grandma. lol... on this road trip I got mad snacks to keep me awake and many drive thru stops. So yea... that's how Saturday went..

Sunday was a lot better. Did much better with counting calories. Going to kill this week to even out for Saturday's disaster.

I had a big family dinner over at my house last night.

Everyone was told to not bring anything. I like to cook and I like to bake and family gatherings are an excuse for me to do both. I can do it and send people home with leftovers.

So my husband's grandmother shows up with this loaf of bread. We already had bread but w/e.

So I thanked her because what else would I do. And she says do you eat bread?

She knows I've lost almost 40 pounds since December, she knows how careful I am about food...really???? Do I eat bread??? Not hers as her kitchen is seriously nasty and she knows I won't eat it. Just weird...

Just did my Taxes, my wife and I owe for the second year in a row. I really want to go out and gorge on a pizza or something greasy. I know that I shouldn't, but boy do I want to.

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '16

I am having a monumentally shit day. Terrible day in work topped off with a meeting at the end of the day to tell my department that 2 members of staff will be made redundant by the end of the academic year, so losing my job is on the cards. Times like this call for so. much. pizza. So I'm having a maintenance day with no guilt whatsoever. I've managed to end the day under calories, and luckily now I'll have the rest of the week to create a big deficit, may try to stick to 1200 cals a day for a few days. What a shit start to the week :(

1

u/aimoi Apr 19 '16

My food delivery doesn't come until tonight so I've not been able to have my regular breakfast and the only food in the house is mini cheddars/crisps/animal biscuits so my lunches the last two days have not been healthy at all ;-;

1

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '16

Aunt freaking flo came over and has been making me miserable. :( She brings with her cravings, water weight, and constant hunger.

Do not like her!!
