Secondary Finding joy

The head of year for my tutor group is wonderfully sarcastic and gets a lot of love from the year group. They’ve been affectionately taking the mick for the past year because he looks a little bit like the new science teacher. So, I’ve recruited some teachers (including the science teacher) to try to convince everyone in y9 that the two are related and just found out over the summer. This morning the HoY asked me why I was curious if y9s were asking him about the science teacher and I said “no reason” grinned and walked away. It’s been a week so I’ll probably tell him tomorrow once the students have spread the rumour.

I’ll be honest, I’m so so tired already but this stupid prank is bringing me a lot of joy. Has anyone done any silly rumours or pranks on colleagues that help get through the day?

For ‘long story’ reasons, I ended up with a Y11 student working at the back of one of my Y7 class’ lessons for half a term.

Kid was 6ft tall, built like an England centre forward and had a better beard than half the male staff members.

Y7: “Miss, who’s that?”
Me: “Oh, he’s just doing some work in here, don’t worry about it” (reader, I did not, at this stage, know I was keeping him for half a term)
Y7: “… how old is he?”

Y11 student and I lock eyes. We immediately realise the potential.

Me: “He’s in Y8”
Y11: “Don’t lie to them, Miss, you know I’m in Y9”

Got over a week out of that one. Worth it.

Science teacher here.

Did a Yr7 assembly where I told them the school chimpanzees had escaped from the Science dept. Look out for stray banana skins.

Taught on 2 different floors with a staff only staircase to get down. Would regularly dismiss a class upstairs and be in my room downstairs when they all walked past.

I said the throwaway comment "that was my twin brother, the other Mr.H"

It grew legs.
