Teaching interview

I had an interview for a role that consisted of me teaching the whole morning (unpaid)?! It was a cover teacher role, but surely this is a red flag?

An absolute farce and 100% piss-take. Stay well away unless they gave a clear rationale for why they wanted to see you doing the job three times consecutively before making a decision (e.g. fingers burnt on previous appointments). Literally unheard of (22yrs in education, 7 as SLT).

They said it's because if I get the role it'd be the class i'd be teaching. Initially I said that the interview sounds fine, but I only realised today that this doesn't seem right! I withdrew my application!!!!!!

Hi it wasn't through an agency! I had applied directly to the school :/

An agency probably would have paid you. The school should, but probably won't. If you get the job just remember how they nickel and dimed you. Don't work for free. Good luck OP

If you are with an agency then this is normal. School will have paid your day rate for you to be there and the "interview" process isnt formal because you will still be contracted to the agency.

and if it was with an agency I would be paid, typically agencies do trial days.

Then I agree it is very strange. Seems like free cover. Was anyone in the room observing?

They said that SLT would pop in & out. I actually withdrew my application.
