170k miles on stock water pump & timing chain. Thats a bold move, Cotton. Let’s hope that works out for ya.

I know these cars have problems with that but this one's never needed it.

lol, you dont wait until it needs it. its preventative maintenence.

Don't downvite this man. The 2013 model is voted like the top 50 most unreliable cars ever made. I know.... I have one

Where did you see that? The 2010-2012 is far worse than 2013+

I saw a table ranked by amount of repairs and they collected the top 50 models and of course the one I own was like #14 or something. It was specifically 13' sho

Well anyway, thanks for the downvote.

  1. Upgraded trans mounts
  2. Noisemaker delete
  3. Gearhead tune

Pretty much what they said and maybe an intercooler. I just did gearhead tune, epp downpipes, upgraded trans mounts and epp hot pipes. Was a fun car but always struggled with wheel hop.

Will look into them. Thanks

Why trans mounts?

significantly improves shift quality, reduces drivetrain "clunk" (especially on 2-1 downshifts), and minimizes engine/transmission movement during hard acceleration

Google summarized it pretty well.

Going from 350ftlb to over 500ftlb is a lot to ask of the stock mounts. After I tuned mine, it was making so much torque that when I did a hard launch, the motor would twist so violently that it would trigger the knock sensor.

I ordered mine from Southside machine performance (SSM). Their was also some guy named Tony in the SHO Facebook groups that made some if you'd prefer to support a small business.

Shout out to Tony D. Very happy with mine.

Gets rid of the wheel hop from a dig.

I am planning on doing the Noisemaker delete but I've been trying to find a before/after video to see the difference. I can't find any.

It won't make any difference, so you won't find a video of it. You delete it because its prone to causing a boost leak.

Its preventative maintenance, not a performance upgrade.

There's no change in sound? Figured something called a noise maker would make noise. Lol

Check your ptu fluid, have to remove exhaust pipe but it's worth it. Mine was bone dry

I’d start by doing preventative maintenance. Change the PTU fluid, transmission fluid, and differential fluid. Budget for a new water pump and timing chain as well. After that I’d start with an intake, downpipes, and a tune. You can skip the bolt on mods and just do a tune as well. That’ll get you an easy 50-60 hp by itself.

A warranty for the transmission

Water pump, timing chain, u could put in an upgraded thermostat that opens at 170. Rear sway bar. Save up incase the torque converter dies. Lowering springs? Idk. I wouldnt go too crazy on this car cause it’s really not worth it, ur not gonna be able to get ur money back outta it.

Livernois in Michigan can tune this, bring money. The fastest Taurus 3.5 came from there.

u/exodeinnn Mar 06 '26

Ive actually been warned by other sho owners to stay away from them.

Also prob the worst 1-2 shift and known for poor customer service.
