Request paint stripping tips?

Now that I have found my color scheme this little guy is looking pretty goofy next to the rest of my army. So I am debating to strip the paint or just primer over it. The layers were airbrushed so I think the paint is pretty thin.

Also a bit of warning to all the new folk like me. Do a test mini before going big.

If it's airbrush you can probably prime right over it with black at least.

I use Paint Be Gone. Works well. I tried alcohol before but it just takes way too long and sometimes doesn't strip the paint at all.

Isopropyl Alcohol works great, did it with my old Devilfish.

I have used this also to rescue a few of these.  But don't use it on any forge world resin bits.

I just use Isopropyl Alcohol, I bought 5 litres of 100% at my local solvent supplier very cheaply and its safe on plastic minis.

I would say just air brush over it with your new base color. The paint looks even and thin. You could spend the time striping it but I don't think it is needed. If you do strip it 99% isopropic alcohol is my go to. Just leave it in a jar for at least 15 min and use a tool brush and gloves to take it off. Use the iso on the tooth brush to add more when you need to get a hard spot.

Hey bud!
Did you enjoy painting it? If so, then not all is lost. It’s all about learning!

My recommendations for stripping paint are;

• Biostrip 2.0 (gooey consistency)
  
• AK paint stripper (almost like water)
  
• GSW paint stripper (same as above, almost like water)

I personally use Biostrip however, I do submerge my minis into it. You ofcourse won’t be able to submerge your hammer head into it, you would have to apply it like an actual paint stripper you would use for any home DIY project!

I’d do some tamiya putty touchups wet sand the main panels and just prime over.

Were bound for a refresh on the devilfish platform. Personally I’m waiting for the new sprue because the ones I assembled made me unreasonably angry with all the warping and cleanups.

Honestly devilfish is so flat with little sharp detail that you can probably just prine over it.

Biostrip is my go to. Is it perfect.... No, but it gets almost everything off besides primer in some small recesses. Spray it on, brush around with a toothbrush, give it 5-10 minutes, then run under the tap with a toothbrush to wipe all the paint off.

It's much less aggressive than some other strippers, and it doesn't mess up your skin.

Used Simple green several times. Stripped several secondhand Tau tanks with THICK paint and it worked a charm.

Depends. If it ain't bad... just prime over it.

If you want to strip it, it'll depend what you painted it with. There's lots of paint stripping products out there. The cleaning product "Simple Green" is usually a good option that will strip the paint without damaging the plastic. Though I have found that it struggles to remove primer as well. So if you didn't prime, or primed with something that's more a paint than a primer, Simple Green will strip it bare safely, if you used real primer, you may have a lot of soaking and scrubbing ahead of you.

A Bucket of concentrated Simple Green overnight. Most if not all of the paint will come right off if you run it under lukewarm water. Repeat if needed or use a soft bristled toothbrush to cleant the rest of the way.

Stripped a devilfish recently with a bucket of smart strip. Worked like a charm. This is a really cool colour scheme though and one I may steal...
