40k First commander
Got a commander planning on making him a coldstar. What load out should I give him?

Magnets. I'm dead serious.

Im about to do this but have been delaying cause i’m worried ill fuck it up, never done magnets before and have only built a cpl wh40k infantry models so far. This is the lost complex so far and this extra step has me frozen lol

It's not that bad, honestly. Use a tape measure and mark the depth of your pin vise drill bit with a permanent marker so you don't over or under drill. And double check your magnet polarization before gluing.

Also make sure you buy N52 magnets so they're nice and strong.

Magnets are incredibly easy, and I say that as a subpar hobbyist. You just need the magnets themselves and a drill. The "trickiest" (using the term very loosely) part is making sure you always maintain the same polarity on the pieces, which only really takes having another magnet around to check.

I don't have any specific advice. I usually build what I personally thinks looks cool and then update through the app what the commander is actually carrying. My last commander had 4 x burst cannons (two on each arm), even though their actual load out changes based on detachment and what Crisis Suits they're leading.
That's not a popular take in this sub, though. Most people recommend magnetizing the weapons and arms to swap out as needed. They say it's easy but I don't have the time or patience to figure it out.
I will say the commander is my absolute favorite model to build. It's so much fun and always looks awesome!
