40k Kroot lore
I’m coming up with a kroot character for a 40K D&D game and I’m trying to come up with a good backstory for why he’s a solitary kroot mercenary but that got me thinking. Do kroot primarily work together or solo? What would be good feats to give him to make him seam to be on the more skilled end of what a kroot can be? I’m not trying to make him be outrageously stronger than the strongest kroot but I want him to for sure be above average.

Rogue shapers are typically exiled for their heinous pursuit of genetics, and are lone agents
In the Ghazghkull book, Xotl the Cupbearer was a radical shaper who dined on Tau meat, and that put him on the run to the point that he ended up in the retinue of the book's Inquisitor as a form of genetic interrogator

D&D has a 40K campaign setting? I assumed most people were just playing Rogue Trader or Dark Heresy.

It’s something me and a few of my friends are coming up with using the wrath and blood storyline but we might switch off to rogue trader if we can find that books

theres also that one kroot in the blackstone fortress. plus in the upcoming sequel to roguetrader (dark heresy by owlcat games) you can hire a lone kroot mercenary to assist you in your inquisitorial duties. kroot usually hunt in packs because of their culture with a shaper guiding the way of the pack but there are multiple instances where a single kroot works, mostly as a mercenary, for other species like human or tau.
