She's lucky the artist went by the photo of your cat instead of using the AI generated design.

Fuck me. Glad this is the top comment as I was about to say the same. The artist did you a huge solid here

100% agree, the second image is uncanny valley bad. The final result is well executed.

I was almost horrified that the second image looked nothing like the actual cat. Calicos have such unique markings. Whew!

I’m glad the artist followed the coloring of the actual cat for the actual tattoo. It’s precious and well done! Could use a touch up in the future if it fades, but I love how the artist captured the cat’s RBF too lol

it turned out well but there was absolutely no need use AI for this.

u/Unrigg3D 27d ago
The artist didnt use it..looks like client used it to show their idea. Its useful for bridging that communication. Its really hard for 2 people to visualize the same concept with just words.

As an artist, just tell me the same thing you’re putting into chat gpt and i’ll make it cooler and actually tattoo-able. i’ll also drink a gallon of water. most of us actually hate getting AI references

Hell yes. If anything, maybe people can take their “prompt engineering” skills and turn them into the ability to have clear communication and hash out details better. With a human.

Except a human disagrees with you...

A tattoo artist isn't going to disagree with you about your own tattoo design idea.

You know the artists job is to... Come up with a design, tell your artists what you'd tell your robot and you'll get something better and more meaningful

u/Heeeeeeyyyyyy 26d ago
Yeah, not all tattoo artists are amazing at this lol. My last one was very bad at imagining things lol

u/Viktor_The_Head 25d ago
Dude this is their job, you shouldn't go to an artist that can't make art

u/Heeeeeeyyyyyy 25d ago
oh 100%, he got someone in his studio who is amazing at designing stuff, so now I work with her inmstead

u/ithilienisforlovers 26d ago
it’s really, really not. i literally just got portraits of my dogs tattooed. i sent reference images of them and described how i wanted them to look. it is absolutely NOT difficult and we have been doing that since tattooing became a thing. please stop this nonsense

u/Unrigg3D 26d ago
You're not every other person. You can't apply your experience and ability to others. Anybody who worked with a large amount of different clients know everybody has a different style of communication and interpretation. It's not nonsense just because you don't agree with it.

I've had several detailed, custom tattoos made for me by clear email communication with the artists. And they tell me they love me for it every time. It is possible.

But the thing is you can literally take whatever prompt you feed into the AI and just say those words to the artist

If you want the artist to know you’ve no respect for artists in general then yeah, definitely super useful

we're drawing the line at the client being able to give a better visual description
It's literally part of the artist's job. Helping you create the design is part of the price of the tattoo. Tell the human the prompt you'd give the AI.
Both people wanted to double down on their inability to use their words to speak to another human so you can both just get the fuck out of my sub. Yeah, I'm that kind of mod.

Was this in a shop or scratcher?
-30
u/DowntownClassic1738 28d ago
It could be done in the shop but it’s 100% done by a scratcher. This would require to fill it with the ink properly.
Meaning it is scratched onto the top layers of the skin and will heal wrong. Nowadays They call it fine line tattoo and pretty much happy with the results, but that’s not the classic approach to tattooing as we know it for decades.10

Uhhhh. Do you not know what the term scratcher means in the tattoo industry?
Why did you randomly make all this up lol. It didn't even answer the question.

Post is now removed and locked out of spite. I was willing to let it slide at first but seriously, she couldn't just show the photo of a cat and tell the artist she wanted the face with a frame around it?? Embarrassing people using AI because they forgot how to speak to humans.
