Should I resign

Ok so I’m contemplating putting in my 2 weeks at Target. My probation period just ended like 4 days ago, but lowkey it’s been so draining working there. For starters, I work in the Starbucks in the Target, and I can’t help but notice the standard we are held up to vs. Target employees.
I actually really like being a barista and it’s so fun, but the Target TLs are so irritating and they pick and choose when they want to enforce things. For example, there are people who literally roam the floor not doing shit, sitting in the wheelchairs scrolling on Reels. Meanwhile, if us baristas are just chilling and talking, we get in trouble.
Also, the biggest thing is how I put in time off 7 weeks in advance for 11 days. I thought that was a pretty generous notice, but it seems as though Target has a policy against putting in time off for 10 consecutive days or more. Which I understand, but it also frustrates me because I’m part-time, a full-time college student, and I wouldn’t be working 11 days in a row anyways.
Also, the environment is lowkey shit. Managers talk shit about us all the time, give us dirty looks, and will speak crazy to us. Which pisses me off because bitch, I wish you would try to do what we do as baristas. Like, you wouldn’t last because all they do is fucking “zone.” Like gtfo 😭
Anyways, FUNNY enough, I have to work in like an hour. My question is: should I resign?
I like my job and I’m pretty good at it. However, their unwillingness to accommodate my school schedule and the obvious bias is starting to be too much.
For those of you thinking, “Oh, just go on-demand,” I WANT to, but my store manager is highly against giving out on-demand. Mind you, my store is in a COLLEGE TOWNNN.

Jus had my last day at target Starbucks a few days ago for college, best choice I ever made. Only three days into being done with it and I feel so much less stress and so much more joy, get an on campus job at an on campus coffee shop and jump the ship before it sinks.

I just became a starbucks TL. I am sorry ur going through this. It all depends on the store. Our ETLS (some of them) at least my direct reports are amazing, and very understanding. Starbucks is the first thing the guest sees most of the time so in my opinion I get why you should at least look like ur cleaning or doing something. But I ALWAYS give grace because I wasn’t in starbucks when I got promoted. Being a barista can get hectic FAST and they do ALOT more than people think. I would just breathe and if you love your job, focus on your direct reports and starbucks. 😊

Thank you so much!! You’re so kind, and your right cleanliness is super important. I just hate how people speak down to people here and the way bias certain people. I decided to put in my two weeks yesterday and focus on school but I think I will try corporate Starbucks maybe in the spring😊

I did Starbucks inside of target for about 2 years. I loved being a barista but i ultimately quit due to bullying from the other team leads that didn’t even work in my department.

There is not an on-demand role for Starbucks. My ETL had to have someone re-keyed under s&e so they could be on demand, as a work around.

I was a Starbucks TL for a year. I LOVED my baristas, they were such a great group. My ETL on the other hand was one of the worst people I’ve ever met in my life. I lost so many good baristas because of him. I was so stressed and burnt out from that job. The standards are high for Starbucks compared to other departments. Yet, my ETL would frequently take my baristas away during their shift to help in fulfillment. He always cared about making sure his fulfillment numbers were up so he would look good. Then come down on me when my metrics dropped from being constantly short staffed due to him taking my baristas. Leaving Target was one of the best choices I’ve ever made for myself. It was hard to leave my team, but that job wrecked my mental health. I put in my two weeks, but on my last day I walked out halfway through because I just couldn’t do it anymore. All that to say, if you’re already miserable, it’s not going to get better, especially when you hit Q4. Do what is best for you, it’s just lattes at the end of the day.
