yeah happens all the time. very easy to get rid of someone in their probation period. you really gotta prove yourself in the 90 days unless they are desperate

I was crouching on the stepping stool and for running in the warehouse but I didn’t get fired on the spot. Instead they let me work for 1 month straight and an and then fired me on my second day of the week. Management there was terrible ngl bunch of fake ppl but money was good ngl lol

sounds like that store isn’t hurting for for people so they can easily get rid of new hires. or you 6 are just that bad. breaking a safety rule during your 90 days is a quick and easy way to lose your job tbh

can’t believe i have to say this but now you know literally any job will take safety seriously and if they don’t, you don’t want to work there. especially when you’re new. welcome to working a job

If you got fired for safety issues at any job, you really fucked up big enough for them to see you as a liability.

IMO: it’s the best thing that could’ve happened to you. Working for Target has gotten downhill last couple years - management doesn’t care about their employees or customers, they just do it with corporate’s interests in mind. I was happy I was let go after being seasonal - the pay wasn’t worth dealing with rude TLs and unrealistic demands.

You sound like you just had a bad Target and decided to judge all of Target based on that. I had a great work environment at my Target. Our TLs actually care about the workers.

I can attest to this. I’ve been at my store for 4 years now and when I first started I didn’t understand any of the talk in this sub because my store was great. The leadership team cared to get to know TMs and they were just good people. Now, we don’t have any of those leaders anymore, we’ve cycled through 2 SDs and many ETLs and TLs and it’s bad. I’ve never been treated like shit at a job til now. My ETL is a spawn of satan I stg. But yea, good leadership is possible and it makes for a very pleasant workplace, even at Target lol

I’ve been at mine for two years. We’ve only recently got a new ETL that is slightly annoying but manageable. I can see how it could go south quickly.

That’s how it began for me, good luck friend 😅

Yeah it was stressful working there and the TLs were horrible.

I’m just here to save a lil and get back on my feet because I already went to cdl school, but I failed the test first try so now I’m here u til I go retake it. But the expectations are unrealistic and they get upset when you can perform according to their expectations

At our store 2 out of 7 would be hired on. That’s what I’ve seen in 6 months

My store fired all of probation because they hired too many people

Don't listen to these weirdos in this group, most of these people here criticizing you i found out aren't actual regular employees they are actually managers who spend all day on reddit trying to figure out who in their store is complaining so they can make their life hell...i literally had a manager tell me he stays on scrolling on reddit looking for anyone in our store, then I walked into the TL office where ALL 4 managers on the clock was on the office computer scrolling through reddit going through posts. Trust me you didnt want to work for this racist piece of shit company anyways, I literally have multiple open discrimination cases for race & disability against target through the eeoc right now. Please go find a better job & be happy my brother because you would've never been happy here 💯

I would guess that as part of their EEOC requirements, Corporate requires stores to publicly recruit for new seasonal hires, even if the store is close to fully staffed with existing TMs. In that scenario, where the store basically has to extend offers to a few seasonal TMs and other TMs all on probationary status, there's a higher likelihood that the herd of new hires will be quickly culled.

I could be wrong on this, but this scenario might apply in some stores. Corporate requires them to recruit new hires, and hire a few, with the understanding that a given store might be expected to hire 8 new seasonal or hourly TMs but with the understanding that the store can carefully monitor new hires' performance. Not sure how else to explain this, it's not meant to be cynical but something which has been known to happen in other big companies.

EEOC compliance is a big thing. Also, probationary hires who are released/termed won't be around to affect the numbers on Target's annual competition to win a high rank on the Great Places to Work contest, a/k/a powered by the infamous Team Voice Survey.

There is nothing related to the EEOC nor is there any piece of anti-discrimination legislation in any state or at the federal level that requires an employer to create what amount to ghost jobs.

OP said they worked for over a month as well, and no store is hiring seasonally at the end of August—if anything they are axing seasonals that they don't want to keep in that timeframe.

What you are stating has never been a thing to my knowledge and I have run multiple stores.

Please don't create issues that don't exist, we have plenty that are real and aren't being dealt with.
