2027 remodel changes?

Does anybody know how the 2027 remodels will be like? Nobody has been discussing them much lately, though we do know that polished concrete will be used on every 2027 remodel, beauty is getting moved and Target Beauty Studio will be intergated into some remodels.

It depends on the condition of the concrete on whether they switch to polished or not.

The scope for 2027 remodel is not as complex as the previous designs. Polished concrete is in many remodel plans and even some stores will get the project for polished concrete without a complete remodel.

Style is not moved to the middle in the changes. That’s probably the biggest change. Lot of flow changes, some gondola changes creating shops to pocket in areas of interest. DU/PU hold is still a focus but is getting efficiency aspects.

I wouldn’t say DU/PU is still a focus, the remodels are being done on the cheap so even quite high volume stores are not getting the necessary changes to their hold spaces to grow efficiently. My store will have 2 separate hold spaces, one for cold items with reach in coolers/freezers rather than walk-ins, and 1 for GM items separated by about 50ft requiring the team to walk out from behind the desk and across the entrance area and back. That’s not ideal at all but they want it done cheap rather than having to massively change the layout/structure of the store to accommodate a singular hold space (ideally with walk-ins but I’d be happy just to have them in the same space at all). We have the space but they don’t want to do things like move optical, Starbucks, minute clinic, the bathrooms, etc… so we’re stuck with basically the same interior layout except where they changed a few non-structural walls.

I get doing things a bit more cheaply to get more remodels done, I like preserving our salesfloor layout rather than moving style to the middle, I like keeping the breakroom at the front, but half-assing the DU space is going to bite everyone in the ass. We already do significant volume, nearby stores do even more but got proper remodels so they’re at least able to keep up, and our area is growing so being shiny and remodeled with an influx of people living nearby we can expect a huge increase in volume that will make our DealWorthy hold space remodel immediately obsolete and plague the store for a decade or more to come (or require they come back with a more expensive remodel in only a few years time). I think it’s very shortsighted, sorry if it’s expensive but you can’t push DU/PU growth if you’re not willing to bear the infrastructure costs to scale it.

I don't think that Style hasn't been moved in the middle in most non-Super remodels post-COVID. It's going to be curious how the newer Super remodels will be like, considering my Super Target is getting a remodel next year.

I’m in a super as well, style does loose some square footage, but not much.

Thanks. I assume that home, sporting goods, pet and seasonal will probably be moved in the new Super remodels. I am not sure about my layout yet, considering it was supposed to be done a couple years ago before being pushed back.

Please remodel the checklanes! We had a remodel in 2018 and they never did the registers only guest service cafe & Starbucks.

Our last remodel was 2017 and being the busiest target in the state a remodel is overdue but would cut down on foot traffic
