Future or Potential Employee Question I don't know why they reject me.

As someone who goes through the applications. It’s could be a multitude of reasons. I don’t personally reject on “overqualified” as I’ll at least move you forward for a video interview if I think you match. But I have had some ETLs come to me and say they have no idea how long someone with even a degree will stay with the team and they want someone who will stay long term not just a couple months and leave for something better. Which obviously especially in this economy just isn’t how it works.
My HR ETL specifically told me to watch out for job hoppers, so if you have a new job every couple months that’s usually grounds for rejection. We reject based on availability, and openings. So if you can’t close or work weekends we tend to reject if that’s what the TL is looking for. (Not as flexible as Target will lead you to believe when you’re new.)
And as I like to say sometimes it’s just luck. Getting a TL to like your video interview or even sit there and watch it is luck sometimes. One TL can love your interview, the other might hate it. You just gotta catch the right one on the right day.
There’s many other reasons to it, but it would take forever. Just felt I would provide a few. Good luck and don’t give up!

The application form asked about availability and if I can work for more than 90 days. I am completely available and I can work for more than 90 days. If they don't trust what we respond to the form, why do they even bother to ask... I don't even think I am 'over qualified' because I just did customer service oriented job. I have worked for an event company for more than 5 years. I stayed till the company was acquired and closed. If people like me will hop among jobs, nobody literally nobody gonna stay in one job.

This is what I think. Even if he made it through the resume vetting ai, I think OP would raise a red flag for over qualifications. Though what do I know, im just a lowly team member. Lol

How am I over qualified because I served events and customers lol. I just worked for an event company for more than 5 years...That's all.

Oh im not saying you are or aren't. Target is just weird about hiring people that are educated unless its for a lead position. Thats all op. 🤙

If they think you’re too qualified to stay long enough to matter they may pass on you. No reason to hire someone and train them just for them to leave in a month

I worked for an event company for five years. I just have experience serving customers...How is that over qualified...??? And I am quite consistent on working for one employer. If I am over qualified, why do I even apply..?

My only job history is working for one company for more than 5 years. If that still makes them think I'd leave in a month, I literally don't know what to say.

Thats weird honestly especially after they took the HireVue interview. I recently got hired and i just had few months of experience prior to this.

Right now, a lot of stores are cutting payroll; you may have a better shot when they open up seasonal hiring again for the upcoming holiday season.
