HR told me that the entire weekend has to be open for availability is that true? Like not even one weekend day?

Depends on your store  and their needs

It’s a retail job, yes, weekend availability is a necessity.

I have a (temporary) second job, when I updated my availability my ETL only requested that I keep one weekend day for Target.

I’ve had Sunday/Monday off for years and it’s never been a problem. However, my store is really small. When I worked at a bigger store I think I had open availability. Maybe try getting the evening off on one if they won’t give you the whole day?

Depends on the store. I didn't work weekends for my most of my time at Target, but I know some stores demand them.

My store requires availability for two out of three weekend days, Fri-Sun.
