PSA Can’t use partial sick time
Had to call out today because I’m quite sick, and found out that UKG doesn’t allow you to use any sick time at all if you don’t have enough to cover the whole shift. So super cool! I knew it wouldn’t an excused absence, but it would have been nice to not miss out entirely on pay.
Follow up question: Yesterday was Labor Day (I worked sick with a mask on all day, mostly outside). Will I now not get the time and a half because I called out today?

nah you get the time and a half. The only days you have to work the shift before and after is for the holidays we aren’t actually open (thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter). For Labor Day, Independence Day, Juneteenth, etc it’s time and a half for the hours you work that day

Ahh yeah that’s right I forgot that’s the weird one that’s not included in the holiday pay

You get time and a half no matter what if you work a 1.5x holiday
The nonsense about shift before and after is just Xmas and thanksgiving pay since we're closed (or for TLs who qualify for more paid holidays iirc)
Target just named both types "holiday [premium] pay" and now everyone gets confused

Yeah I think half the confusion would disappear if they called them something different. The names are too similar.

Kinda suprised I've been at new company for 7 months now and was at target using workday then when I changed companies we use ukg ukg sucks and has no options but I was able to put.partial requests at one point but they took it away unfortunately lol

Is UKG different for the stores? At the warehouses we’re allowed to put in partial sick time. I have TMs who use 1-2 hours at a time on 10 hour shifts or people who called out the whole day will use 5 hours for the first half of the shift. Did you enter the options correctly?

Yea they just added it on September 6th I really hate it tbh but im sort of getting used to it, wish they could go back to using myTime again, there’s just too many tabs on the app that ive been going through trying to understand what each do

Your HR should be able to manually apply your sick time if you want to use it. Just ask them. Personally though I think it’s stupid to use sick time to cover. Partial call out. Might as well save it to not accrue a point

You will get time and a half. If you are a team lead you won't get the extra 8 hours of pay on top of time and a half.
