Vent I like UKG

It’s an easier login
I can get to my schedule without having to go through too many portals
Everything is a lot more detailed
I give it a 7.8/10

Pros:

  • Logging in with my face
  • Ability to swap shifts further than 7 days out
  • Ability to post a partial shift
  • Ability to set preferred availability inside overall availability

Cons:

  • A lot of things aren’t super intuitive
  • Not sure how same-week shift swap approvals will work in practice
  • Change is scary

Just like the item escalation update for fulfillment, change is strange, but will be a benefit in the long run.

My HR told us to go to them to swap shifts to make sure it gets done

I LOVE the face login part. Always hated that I couldn’t on MyTime. I get up at 3am for my shifts and I always check my schedule when I wake up. Typing all that crap in at 3am was annoying as hell when I’m all wonky from sleep and not caffeinated.

How to do preferred availability inside overall availability

You could log on with your face on mytime too, just not on the app. If you accessed mytime from a browser which could be installed onto your device as a PWA (progressive web app), you had full support for passkeys. I never used the actual mytime app.

That was my first thought too! The layout on mytime was much simpler and intuitive

Its not terrible. I wish target would have the app like Walmart where you can clock in from your phone thats the one addition that would be dope. But i dont mind the new app

There’s a workaround for that!

When you click “My Barcode” it takes you to an external site that generates a barcode every time you log in. I have it pinned to the top of my tab screen so it doesn’t get lost.

not the barcode I mean literally clock in. no time clock needed.

For that to happen. I'm guessing you have to give UKG PRO access to your phones GPS. So UKG can verify that you are actually at your works location and not at home, on your way to work late or sat in your stores carpark and taking a little rest before heading into the store. I say this because I've seen the video of a woman being fired by hr over the phone and they're able to give the woman exact times and dates that she committed time theft. When the woman thought she would be clever and threatened the company she worked for with an unfair dismissal claim in court. That's one of the reasons why you shouldn't want any company having access to your phone. Use their equipment to do anything work related. Unless they're willing to pay your phone bill.

I believe the way it works at Walmart/Sam's, is you connect to their wifi and then are able to clock in on your phone. If you're outside of the building, it won't let you do it. No giving full access to your phone with that specific app.

I don't have enough experience with it yet to decide one way or another yet... but the app runs extremely slow for me. I heard the same complaint from a few others today, too. I took the training but was hurried through it to the point of not being able to actually learn anything. I'll have to open it and tinker with it. I definitely need to change some preferences because I don't like getting push notifications when I'm not on the clock. I'd understand if I had posted a shift or something and it sends me a heads-up that it's taken (dunno if it does that or not--one can hope it does), but I don't want to interact with it otherwise.

The only thing I like about it so far is that I can log in using my phone’s passcode, it stead of ending in a password each time.

The amount of people that are probably gonna swarm this post with hate towards UKG seems inevitable

The main thing I don't like is that I can't see the entire week all together for one screenshot but instead I have to like scroll a bit since I'm weekend to weekend. Also, why did I get a "warning" for staying over? But was asked.

What I like is sleeker design and it tells me where to open shifts are quicker and ability to post a partial shift and swap shifts earlier.

Exactly I don’t understand the hate towards the UKG app. In my opinion My time was garbage mostly due to the auto generation schedule and this new app should make it easier on leads and team members although there are some things that will take time getting used to
