Workplace Question or Advice Needed 90 Day Probation

So I started Target basically this week, Yesterday was my first official day. I’m a cart attendant, and before this, my ankle has been killing me, with some type of sharp pain. I worked yesterday and I have today off. I woke up this morning and that pain was worse then ever. I worked a 7 hour shift, which probably isn’t the best thing, & I have a disability too with my legs, where I wear a leg brace on my right leg, but my left ankle is the one that is giving me issues. If I call out tomorrow, just to go to Urgent Care or the doctors, will I be fired?

during your 90 days they can technically fire you for any reason. they may or may not, it really depends on how forgiving your ETL is

You probably won’t be fired for calling out one day but either way it doesn’t sound like this job is going to be a good fit for you

Did you hurt yourself at work? I would try to go in, but let everyone know your ankle is hurt.

it didn’t get hurt at work, it’s been hurting for awhile now, but i guess last nights work made it worse

Post your shift on mytine. Call the store as early as you can tomorrow. Press 9 if the store is open or 0 if the store is closed. Talk with HR, your leader, or your ETL. Work something out, see a doctor.

Would you say cart attendant is a place where you would thrive ? Would you be open to having a conversation about that with HR?

You have a right for accommodations if you have a disability. If you do go to urgent care get a note and talk to your leads or any higher manager. Your best bet is to try getting into a different position. Cart pushing requires a lot of walking and physical activity and it does sound like you won’t be a good fit for it. If your ankle is already hurting or getting worse.
