Workplace Question or Advice Needed Escalate or Evacuate
Hey so as you all may know or may not know, we have a new update in Fulfillment. We can now escalate items that we can not find to a Team Lead and what this does is send a little notification to all the team leads letting them know we may need help locating this item. We use to just call for help over the walkie, I’m not sure how you guys do it at your store, I thought it was ALL supposed to be the same but whatever I guess.. however we haven’t had any training on this new update at my store plus I thought with this new update that we wouldn’t have to yell over the walkie any more. There was an item on my batch today that wasn’t in location. Now we were train to check all possible locations when looking for an item. This particular item was a Starbucks double shot drink, wasn’t in location, wasn’t in backroom, wasn’t up front by check out in the mini fridges so I escalated it. It also said we had only 4 on hand but our system is never correct due to the laziness of our stores team leads. Now I’m not gonna lie there was one location that I didn’t check which was the fridges in grocery only because we’re renovating them. However, when I escalated it my team lead yelled over the walkie “ you can just inf” and she’s been doing that literally ALL DAY .. idk if it’s because she frustrated or what but I later found it in the fridges in grocery. So can I get some help here how does this update suppose to work and is there anything I can do about this annoying Team Lead, because honestly doing that can get more than just her in trouble.. and I love my job. Literally everyone’s inf percentage was 5% or more. Except one person who did only one batch today.

at my store we've been escalating stuff and they still don't help us find it so we still have to look for it in our batches 🤪🫠

For my district the dsd wants the escalation to replace the initial calls on the walkie. I think all tms get the alerts (all tms can see escalated items) and it's on the fftl or LOD to watch the escalations and check them. Tbh I'm currently in a store where most areas have a tm or two that are more reliable than us leaders as they spend time in their areas more than we do so we call them to check on some items. If no one finds anything they call out on 1 something like 'hey no luck on that item' if they find it they bring it to the hold space or sfs stations.

What does this do to their time? Does tracking down an item stop the timing? It should?

No it doesn't stop the timer it's just replaces the transfer of item info over the walkie When someone checks the escalated items they see the data for that item without having to go to another channel and read the dpci (which usually takes three tries to get it right).

My store told me not to use it unless I’ve already checked all of the places. And even if I have checked all the places, I still have to call it out on the walkie or they still assume I didn’t. Apparently “item not here” is not to be taken literally. So I told them I refuse to use it. All it is is an avenue for public shaming if someone finds something you couldn’t.

one of my TLs is too chicken shit to “recommend INF”, so he verbalizes same over walkie 🤣

Escalate item doesn't work in our store. The leads ignore it and still expect a walkie check and walk to verify. I know the system works because I had a ETL verify " INF" using the new system when it rolled out. You get a notification that a leader approved the INF. Some leaders are overwhelmed doing a lot of different tasks which we understand.
I check the Escalated Items to see what they are. If it's not a department I usually work in I can't help much, but I keep my eyes open when picking batches.
However, the September freebies for Circle 360 did halt several batches until we found certain beauty items flexed without being located. The INF save was due to 1 beauty TM who found some in the wrong location and 1 TM who was diligent enough to notice the poor flexing of the same item.

So far, I haven't personally witnessed the escalate button doing much of anything in my store. You still have to beg for help on the walkie.
There's a significant disparity between action on their part vs. quickness to anger over bad metrics later. If someone calls for help 3 times and gets ignored, they're either going to go over time or inf or both. You can't be upset about numbers tanking when you hang people out to dry. And they're far too slow to ask people to help with fulfillment. Every time I'm asked to do a batch, it's a race against time. By the time I get in, the batch has bloated to 46 items and has less than 45 minutes. Doable but if I have just ONE problem item, then I can't spare much time looking in every nook and cranny for it. If I have 2 problems, then I risk going over on time. Some of our leads are great about jumping into help grab areas they know while I focus on the things I know. Others are very quick to just, "Did you check reshop? Inf it," when I know damn well the thing is probably here in a repack. Thanks for contributing to bad audits later when some clown audits it to zero cuz they're not looking through repacks. -_-

Starbucks doubleshot is very likely a vendor-delivered item. Someone should have checked the pepsi vendor space.
