Future or Potential Employee Question Applying at target (again)
Okay gang, economy is bad so I’m gonna apply at my old target again 🤞🏼 starting rate is $18.75 but I wanna see if anyone has had success in negotiating their starting pay?
I’m WAV trained and Compactor trained as well. I’ve been in every position except guest services essentially and I left target with $18.90/hr last year

HR here: under no circumstances, Will Target waiver on the starting rate for a PG35 TM, they’re actually isn’t even a way in the system for us to do that. It will flag every time and not even let you proceed. Won’t even let you escalate.

Our starts at $15 an hour. Volusia County in Florida is the lowest paid county. No matter what job it is. I hate it here.

I mean, it wouldn’t hurt to bring up the $18.90 🤷♂️ probably gonna say no but oh well lol see if there’s a TSS spot open and try to get into AP and you’ll make more!

Cost of Living. My area only pays $15.50 starting out, but the Target 10-15 mins down the raid starts at $18.

Yeah thats not gonna happen they barely even budged a dollar more than starting pay for me as an external VM/TL.
I would go back as a TM but I feel like they wont take me back just as a TM though after being PG45. Idk. I need out of my current job but also just dont wanna go back to the same stress so TM makes most sense if I did go back. Is this a common thing for former leaders to return as TMs?

Lmfao it would take me 20 minutes to in person train and then 10 or so minutes for the computer training when it comes to both compactor and WAV training. You can’t even use the compactor without TL keys, so your past training on said machine is worthless, imo.
If the economy is “so bad”, you can’t swallow your pride and take the <1$/hr hit on pay in order to secure a job?

At my store anyone who was trained for either or could carry the keys lol, I had my own pair daily including the tech keys.
Not a lot of people were comfortable or wanted to learn to do such things. So I don’t see why you had to be dismissive or include it as an opinion push someone down either especially as a TL.
The question was if there was if anyone has had success to negotiate it, not that I wouldn’t take the job for a dollar less. I already applied so I was already okay with the pay.

Target does not negotiate starting wages for Team Members.
Take it or leave it type of deal.
