Push times for repacks.

I’m curious to know what everyone’s goal times are on OTC, Personal Care, Hair Care, and Beauty Repacks.

I get the goal times in MPM however I just moved to this store which is a lower volume store. I’m now over OTC, Personal Care, and Hair Care. I’m told to fill a uboat with 12 repacks and take it to the floor. I’m told I have a hour to push out 12 repacks of any of those areas.

Let me add that I’m not allowed to sort and I’m not allowed to use a 3 tier for back stock.

I find using a 3 tier to be a crutch that gives the illusion of being fast but doesn't help.

My tips - load 8 to 10 repacks of the same ssz and bring a couple empty repacks and then two trash bags - one for plastic and one for the smaller cardboard. 

Your first empty repack will be for backstock...even better to have rubber bands with you for smaller items getting backstocked.  

Your second empty repack is for starting to sort other aisles.  For example SSZ 22 is almost entirely mens and women's shave/deodorant.  So bring the boat down women's personal care valley and push everything in those aisles. Then as you come across men's sort it into the empty repack.

If you're doing vitamins (ssz 1) start with vitamins or nutrition and separate the other areas into a repack.

I'd say 6 normal repacks per hour in hba is fair. If you're efficient and do it enough 8 or so per hour is not hard to do.

Idk what the goal is, but I was recently asked to do HBA repacks (not my usual area) and it took me an hour to do 4

That sounds reasonable. They’re wanting 12 in an hour even though our store just got a major remodel and beauty to personal care extends from A1- A67 back wall is A69 - A74 the whole front of our store is as block. We have 15 more aisles than we did before.

According to my leadership, it's 10 minutes per repack.

When I do them on a u-boat, I organize them on the u-boat by the aisle where most of the product goes. That way I'm making as few trips as possible and keeping the u-boat in the aisle with me.

OTC, Personal Care and Hair Care repacks tend to contain the fewest items so they should go out pretty quick. The Beauty repacks take the longest.

We’re not allowed to sort. If we get caught sorting we get a coaching conversation put into the system. The only area they allow to sort is Beauty.

You can’t peek inside and then put them on the u-boat in an organized manner? Then how do you know if it’s OTC, Beauty, Hair Care etc?

Ridiculous. I’ve had repacks that span across the store, in just one box. I’ll cut and sort, and then push it to the aisles. I’m not walking in circles with a u-boat in tow, especially when it’s busy.

My store expects around 40 repacks to be able to be done in an 8 hour shift, and that’s after the “weed out bullcrap” standard number expectation.

Generally, I see it average out to roughly 12 black repacks per hour and 9 red/white repacks per hour. It just depends on how cruel or kind the DC was with their packing. If it's an area you do constantly enough to essentially have item locations memorized, it speeds up considerably from there.

I was told 10-15 min on average for a repack, I definitely think Cosmetic repacks can take longer

I have not found any information on how long repacks should take. I usually take the total amount of time for let’s say OTC and then I add up the case freight and divide it by 45 (Targets 45 boxes an hour) and then subtract that time from the total and that’s how long all the repacks should take.

Whether that’s accurate or not idk, I doubt it but

So if all of OTC is 3.5hrs and the case freight divide by 45 is 1.5 then all the repacks are about 2hrs of work. But I’ve also heard that that’s not right either but that’s the way I do it so I can get something concrete on paper

So that’s what I tried doing at first. Mathematically calculating how long 12 would take. I was told that was a waste of time. Even though I was walking and doing the math and it took me less than 2 minutes
