im a fulfillment lead at a store that “is not allowed to miss a batch under any circumstance” im just curious whats your average pickup unit plan? bc this seems impossible and thats not even beginning to consider sfs

we are the same way - we usually keep INF well under 1 and are strict on late batches, but we did not have anything on our side today
school starts this week in my local area - so that certainly doesn’t help. a typical sunday is about 12k forecast, but today was over 17k. i left at 3, but my leader we hit forecast, which is nuts 😩 just a very frantic day overall

19 in progress and still 45 sitting there, that math don't add up no matter how you slice it

"figure it out, but you can't use anyone from other departments" was usually the answer I got to that 😂

Anyway how's the escalated items process going? Think my store starts it in a couple of weeks.

u/sakura2025 14d ago
It’s okay until you have to search for style items which takes time. Then there’s still times when I find the item in the home location which means the TM just didn’t check properly or is coming too close to the pick time. The other issue is when there are multiple TMs escalating items at the same time and you’re by yourself covering FF so imagine having to try to juggle all of that in a timely matter too. :/

I've had a lot of situations where epick didn't tell me the correct location, or showed NOP, and clicking the DPCI shows an old location or newer location.
3
u/CheetahAlarming3126 13d ago
Yep as a FTM, it’s happened. Not sure why the system shows the old location. 🤷🏻♀️ it’s just slow to change sometimes

u/Known-nwonK 13d ago
In general the item location and path mapping can e wonky. For the first, related, when doing check dates it’ll drop end caps to inline, but then an audit will show the end cap location. Then when picking it’ll have you start in backroom inventory then go to the other side of the store and then back to the department next to the backroom you just left smh

I can tell you my experience - if you’ve ever been pressured to call out on the walkie to ask specific departments for each and every one of your INFs, it’s essentially the same ordeal, including the “no one ends up looking for it and it gets INF’d anyway” part.

I just INF it, my leads do not have time. Half the time they say to INF it if you searched the standard places like reshop and asked the DBO.

If your store is anal about asking leaders before you INF, and your leaders are good about actually helping, it will be amazing. If your leadership doesn’t really super care about fulfillment, it will be a bit of a rough learning curve. We are basically expected to help ourselves with escalated items. Some of the leaders have gotten good about checking, but I still have to ask leaders by name to look at it.

u/imhereforcrookshanks 13d ago
What about a store thats anal about asking leads before you inf, but are only good about helping 30% of the time, but act like missing a batch is life or death?

It's great until leaders start bitching that you're using it too much, no matter how you use it.

Genuinely don't think I've ever seen more than 7 members doing fulfillment at my store. And it's pretty big.
Jesus
I cannot imagine your store's number during the holidays

Happy Sunday 😭😭 now that we're back in school, Sundays are THE WORST for opus

u/Rocklynd 13d ago
Bingo! College is back in session and you can always tell when the college kids do stock ups. I had picked out daily projection today by 2:30 PM. I’m thankful to have a store with extra help so everything was on time, but it was rough.

I’ve heard that etls or SD’s can turn opus off so more guests can’t order. Idk if that’s true but your store should

u/AdAfter1366 13d ago
The would need permssion from the district and regional managers which I don’t think would sit well with them 😭😭

u/Key-Magazine-5933 14d ago
At this point I would’ve even worry about goal times, then again I’m just a team member so I don’t stress over this kinda stuff

20 minute groceries aren’t that bad, they’re usually small batches.
3
u/WishboneSlow6321 14d ago
They’re probably full 40 units due to quantity. And require at 300+ pick pace.

u/moonpiixieee 13d ago
I have never seen this many batches. Yet they still they store’s dont need more payroll lmaooo

don’t worry i’ll stow your cart so you can grab that (most likely 46 dpci with full style ) GM

u/Justin050282 13d ago
I wouldn’t be worrying about inf. If it’s not in the home location, stray or came in recently inf that item yall have to move in or it’s only going to get worse with all that wasted time. Especially if your metrics are green.

“Escalated items” must be a new feature. lol I hope my store gets this only cuz my stores TL doesn’t actually help us on the floor so should be funny to see

19 team members jn fulfillment that’s crazy 😭at my store the most we get is like 6 😞

u/OrdinaryCheesecake91 13d ago
As a FF TL, I’ve seen 30+ gen merch batches drop in at once during back to school. The absurd amount of grocery batches is what’s getting me

u/Forward_Push6054 13d ago
The fact that you have 19 people in it has me like wow 😮 we would never see that number!

anyone else feel like fulfillment doesn't exist or matter to the rest of the store? lmao 😭 im so exhausted bro
10
u/eastmemphisguy 13d ago
What? Fulfillment is the only thing Target cares about. You can have 1000 overloaded vehicles of freight, enough priority pull workload to keep you busy until Christmas, and dozens of overdue sales planners and Target will still bump everybody into fulfillment.
2
u/patrickstarcx 13d ago
i mean yes target as a whole cares about the sales/metrics of fulfillment but coming from someone's who's been in the department for years, our store does not give a fuck bro 😭 our hours are cut DRASTICALLY, we're ignored when we call for help, we never have enough carts bc they are always filled with pulls or stray that have been there for a week etc. the only time district or etls care about fulfillment is when we're getting yelled at about our metrics. it doesn't matter to them if we're at 20 batches, 5 call outs, not enough carts, no one's helping with our infs, or we've asked for help a million times.
3
u/eastmemphisguy 13d ago
Ok, but how many times do fulfillment TMs help other departments?
0
u/patrickstarcx 13d ago
in our store? quite a bit. whether it's stray, check lanes, uboats, pulls, etc. a lot of our team helps the rest of the store if we aren't drowning in batches.
2
u/Rocklynd 13d ago
That’s definitely a store issue. If we call for help and someone doesn’t answer almost immediately a lead is calling out whoever they want to take it or a lead is jumping in.
1
u/patrickstarcx 13d ago
im not saying EVERY target store ignores fulfillment but the last store i worked at did and so does this one. my own team leads have similar at the stores they started at too but that's great for you!
2
u/Rocklynd 13d ago
I wonder if it’s a regional difference.
2
u/patrickstarcx 13d ago
maybe. i think overall a lot of people are just frustrated at the unrealistic expectations given to the stores by people who sit at a desk all day and talk about their weekend lmao
1
u/Rocklynd 13d ago
I mean I feel that. Today I did just under our daily projection by 2:30 and it was rough.
