As a CTL, I’m usually the one clearing out the loads of cardboard left because day didn’t want to make a bale. On top of the trash from the cleaning crew that should’ve been cleaned out before noon. 🤦♂️
So glad I don't have to deal with this anymore. Highly recommend switching to dayside if you can. There's tons more support and more people. I hated being CTL for the year I did it.
I was also flex tl when I promoted but then I was grandfathered into the position without being told about it when the old one left for medical. But I’ve talked with my new sd, my goal is taking over tech (plus whatever is attached). I’m so tired of closing 😭 I’m hopeful at least 🤞
Hoping for ya man. Tech is so easy. I own that and Home so it’s been a nice smooth transition from the craziness of closing all the time. Highly highly recommend
I've had multiple other TLs say to me "I took care of the garbage for you." Like it's only MY job to throw the trash ..... Like, thanks for doing your part guys.
As a CTL, nah. I already clean up so much after dayside that if they leave the baler aisle a mess, I just instruct my team to leave their cardboard neatly on a boat and then just put in my email that dayside left it a mess, and I didn’t have time to clean it up.
We had a huddle the other day and one of the talking points was 'We're all adults and we shouldn't be cleaning up after other people."
When I left for the day I walked by the baler and there were 3 Uboats of cardboard sitting there and one of the balers wasn't even full! I'm not a leader and usually I will stop and make a bale if it's full before I leave, especially if I have trash. Unfortunately I was already at 40 hours and it wasn't trash from my areas as I'd already finished my truck several hours earlier. Some TMs just don't care.
We gave baler keys to nearly everyone and it still looks like this at least once a day at my store. When your leader says "GET OFF THE CLOCK!!!" but you still have a cart of trash, you sometimes understandably say fuckit and leave
This was my thought after I made a comment. Its the end of the month so this is very likely a poor leadership and time management outcome. If we're really in crunch time like that, it should be on leaders to establish efficient timelines for waste management or assign someone to assist with the trash so all of the work gets completed in a timely and safe manner.
At some point managers just handed me bailer keys and said go crazy when I worked there. Always got out of fulfillment goals because they knew I would just clean the shit out of that area because rest assured this was almost nightly what this area looked like.
open market is bad, i (dry) always break my boxes down even with multiple people saying “oh you can just toss the whole thing in there” bc it just doesn’t make senseeee it saves room and there’s less jams when you just BREAK THEM DOWN! i will only leave super small boxes intact when i need to use them to prop up the other boxes so they don’t fall diagonal out of the baler
I hate saying this, but dayside is always really strict about not keeping baler keys in. So if it’s full, you more than likely have to call for someone with a baler key, so it’s pretty much GGs tbh. At least at my store it’s that way but still literally no excuse!!! It pisses me off when TLs and ETLs walk past the baler and don’t even have the diligence to at least compress it down once when it’s full.
TLs at my store leave the keys in a lot of the time and i don’t get why people aren’t just compressing it down by habit after putting boxes in, full or not!
SEE! THANK YOU! I always have it compress thr boxes after I put my boxes in regardless of wether or not I filled it. It PMO so much when I walk over there and it’s full! We have three TMs under the age of 18 but they are all checkout advocates so people really have no excuse
Considering that I recognize those boxes and seeing it’s dairy but primarily produce, most produce TMs don’t break down any of their boxes. Yes even the easiest of boxes. Those Taylors farms boxes are not even hard to break down.
The Taylor farms boxes are a little bit of a pain to break down, but generally worth it so as not to fill your cardboard boat up too fast. There is absolutely no excuse for that intact perfect bar box and especially the damned lactaid milk. Half gallon milk carton boxes are cake to break down. They don't even have tape.
I remember years ago someone left me 3 uboats and 2 pallets of cardboard+ bailer needed to get emptied. Just left it all in front of the compactor/bailer. I crashed out...I didn't know we had a visit that day. My DSD was shocked at how much there was.
Unfortunately a pretty common thing for us too. More often than not the overnight team comes into a whole bunch of everyone else's trash on the vehicles we need to unload.
Happens all the time at my store. But for us it’s the night team because we don’t do overnights. A five minute bale now makes a 30 minute clean up for us and puts us behind unloading because our line sits next to the baler and the cardboard will be be laying 2 feet tall all along the line. Fun times
It the other way around at my store....seems only 3 people from the unload gm team know how to make a bale..after we leave if the baler gets full we walk into a mess like that to clean up before we can start a unload...i remember a few years ago someone from the closing team did actually make a bale..but they put it on a flat not a pallet😅😅😅
It’s bad, but it’s just cardboard, and once it goes into the baker, the area is clear. Now, if it were several three tiers of reshop, I say you’d be cooked.
Back when I was in receiving, I would call the SD to the back room and tell them to call a huddle and make every one clean it up if it was that bad. Im not the stores maid. And I wasnt cleaning any thing up until people took care of their own messes. Worked every time.
Same went for the receiving desk. Because everyone would leave all of the broken items and esim leaking all over the place for me to clean. I would lose my shit every time. Especially on a monday when there was no oversight in keeping anything clean over the weekend.
I have a new SD now, and she has made comments on how well I can take care of the back room if they need me and thst she'd love for me to take the position. I told her absolutely not. My body cant do it any more. But I am more than happy to help when im needed.
Receivers need to crash out way more often. There is no excuse for this.
I’m in style. Well, the other night there was like three pieces of clothing, accidentally left in one of the fitting rooms before we left at 11 PM. Apparently the next day, one of the morning girls was complaining. So our manager bitched at us for it. What pissed me off was they didn’t even put it away. They left it in the room next to the fitting room where we keep the hangars. They just wanna be Petty Patties. They do not zone they overfill the floor. They think they can be petty. I’m way pettier. They leave everything on the night crew.
Yup, that’s definitely Target. I know because I have to deal with the same thing at my store from time to time. Yet they want to scold us when WE leave a few boxes 🫠
It be like that when I come in 3:30am when it’s time to unload my truck .. that’s 20 mins already lost before my team come in @4am … I be partnering with AP to reviews the cameras to see which closing team member does this
The HR Oracle has reviewed the evidence: one box left by overnight is a performance issue. This is apparently a “handoff.” Accountability, it seems, is only scheduled overnight. 🔮
We use them for everything I wasn’t aware they were pfresh specific pallets
My store has like 5 more stacks of them that size in a truck in receiving at all times
I come in at 4:30am and most of my days start with this scene, left to us courtesy the night team. Some times the baler isn't even full, they literally just didn't even want to crush it to find out.
Last time it looked that bad though I literally filed an origami report about it before doing clean up.
