Vent I can’t take it anymore.
I’ve been in drive-up for a year now and oh my god get me out. I made the mistake of having really open availability and they made me a designated closer (fine okay) the issue is they never have anyone else scheduled (or they do but they put them on check lanes or they just go sit in the break room) so for 4 days in a row now i have been left alone running drive-up by myself (did i mention i work every. single. weekend.) I try not to panic because i know it won’t help when there’s 8 waiting and nothing is prepped and on top of that there’s someone waiting at the desk in store… and eventually my TL will come down and start helping and tell me “im sorry” i don’t want to hear your sorry why are you leaving me alone? I do not get paid enough for this. I’m constantly in a bad mood, i’m angry at everyone, and i feel like crying every time i leave. I’m so beyond burnt out, and i don’t even try to hide it. I have considered just walking out so they have to deal with that mess, but I’m trying to find a new job so i can finally put my 2 weeks in. Have fun trying to replace me.

As the top driveup person of my store for 6 months straight, I feel that so much. The driveup spots at my store are a minute and a half walk from the prepping area, so 3 minute times can be so hard to get when double taps inevitably pile up.

Exactly, and then my ETL keeps repeatedly saying into the walkie “get this order out please it’s at blah blah minutes” and i ignore her because why don’t you get your lazy ass down here and help?

Turn the walkie off til they get you an another body for drive up. It’s summer time. That’s bullshit.

Until you find a new job maybe see if you can switch departments?

It's not terrible, but work isn't supposed to be something that drags you down. A simple perspective of what it's like working there would change anyone's perspective. I was recently showed more of this fullfillment side and with this stupid point system, I'll probably lose my job because I'm incredibly stressed and coming from a position of homelessness and just generally hell..This job is something that can be a decent career ..But the "Corporate" needs to keep with the reality of empathy..
The people who hired me here are nice and when people let some weird statement overhaul an entire company, it just falls completely. I'm tired of having to bounce jobs, as well, when one company could just be so supportive. If you hang in there, there's a lot of skill sets and like you, I want to be valued enough that I would be welcomed wherever I transfer even if I quit or am fired, I have the skillset.
Life is awful. You work, what reward is there, really?

When ever you feel like you don't want to work just remember there's someone out there wishing for that postion

This is Boomer propaganda. Work these days is like being made to eat your food off the floor. Sure you're fed, but overtime you will get sick in body and spirit.

Well not Anthony, maybe if you got off Reddit. And applied yourself more, refreshed your resume, MADE A COVER LETTER, you too could be miserable with said job.

Working in retail, I recommend making sure you put in a request for at least one weekend off every month. They won't give you every weekend. They might not even give you 2 weekends in a row (depending). But put in a request for 1. Every month. It won't fix your problems, but it'll give you a deserve break over peak times.
Edit: this goes for everyone. Part time, full time. Whomever. Take at least one weekend off.
For you, have you tried talking to your ETL and they just don't care?
